Origami Cactus reacted to jaslion in Lack of white AMD GPU's
White gpu's in general are extreme niche products with a major pricehike.

Sinxe these are niche since very few people buy these they are low production run and only done for either high end halo tier products (for people that have too much money anyway) or for a very popular gpu that sells well. Then of course way more expensive since its a limite run

    reset or reinstall completely?

I just made the same mistake back when I was starting too, went looking for the best fans for my radiator, spent a lot of money, only to discover the different in temps was 1-2celsius, so all that money wasted for nothing. I could have gotten an extra 32gb of ram for that money, or a better motherboard, more storage, anything. Sometimes the best option is just to stay reasonable and invest that money wisely into something else. For the price of a few high end fans you can already get a 1tb GEN4 m.2 for example

Yea might as well just keep the 5800X and focus on getting the BIOS settings fixed in place.

That's been something AMD has tried to make clear since before Zen3's launch, and that its normal.

The 8-core single CCD parts being the worst of the bunch.

What motherboard (make and model) and version BIOS are you currently using?
Knowing the CPU cooler you are using is helpful too.
(Since you haven't given us any system specifications information)

No point getting a 5700G, or any G-series APU, if you are NOT going to use the iGPU...or already are using a graphics card.
Your best logical option is to get the ECO mode sorted out.

It doesn't make sense to sell your 5800X at a loss, and then downgrade to 5700X.

a valid point lot of people have, is that

you would pay for 5700x much more than in terms of electricity cost running a 5800x

yeah, really worth noting that while it might seem not a big deal, 40db, 50db, the sound difference is only 10, small change, the reality is that sound is logaritmic. over 50db is really annoying and sounds like your personal jet engine, not something you want to hear every day. From pure cooling capability, the arctic wins, it can cool the chip more if you strap the same fans to it, as the design is more efficient.

Absolutely no point. The 5700 is the 5800x, just with lower power limits.
I don't understand why you have a weird complex with turning on the ECO mode in the bios, it is literally what the 5700 is.
If you have an allergy against the word "ECO" for some reason, open the advanced panel in bios and type "65w" in yourself.

There is no point in downgrading, as 5800x is the higher grade of silicon between the 2. That means, when limited to the same exact power limit, it will run faster. (potentially)

As far as chip cooking itself goes, again just your personal phobia, not a real thing.

So just set the chip to 65w limit and you are done. Bios can't change settings on its own. It only reverts back to default if you update bios to a newer version, or if you don't have the bios battery inside the motherboard.

Well, as the table informs at max fan speed, NZXT Kraken X73 is crushing all of the other AIO, including Arctic and Deepcool

But on the scenario where the fan speed is set to max 40dB, NZXT lost to Deepcool and Arctic (basically NZXT fan is not designed to be quiet)

That is why if you're looking for absolute raw max performance, NZXT is the clear winner

But if you wanna quieter sound on your PC and not always wanna crank 300W performance on your CPU, Arctic might just be worth a shot

Assuming your PC case can support 3x120mm, I would recommend both NZXT Kraken X73 and Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360
A bit on the edge for Arctic though, because their fan is silent as a grave and cost cheaper
The only downside is the CPU block doesn't have LED compared to NZXT Kraken

You're worrying for not much, max power draw of a 5800x is around 100w and you could get better coolers for $40

Just turn on ECO mode and set the TDP to 65W. If that's somehow not working, I'd investigate deeper into it, like making sure you're hitting 'save and exit' or you're not running Ryzen Master in the background in an OC profile.

5700x is certainly what the 5800x should have been, but being a 5800x owner since launch (and still am, though i don't use it as much also owning a 7900x and 7800x3D) I'd never even consider swapping it for a 5700x. Just no need anymore. With proper CO undervolting or even power limiting, its plenty easy to keep cool.

If you're going to buy a new CPU, buy a 5800x3D and actually gain something from the deal, though not much.

steve is not a journalist, and Tim from LMG fired the first shots at GN/HUB, if he's doing it out of malice, he wouldn't be the first one to text linus in the middle of the night when LTT got hacked, the lab is incompetent and not anywhere close to being a competitor to GN/HUB. This was a PR freebie handed to LMG by steve and they botched it. I think most can agree this wake up call is potentially very good for LTT (the last video i finished was the jet fan from... a month ago), while GN gains credibility.

to be clear, i don't like GN's tone/ presentation style.

Still hoping for the best for all parties involved.

Origami Cactus reacted to YoungBlade in Sorry for this repetitive boring question
Odds are, it'll do okay if you're willing to turn down settings. The components are comparable to the level of hardware present on the latest consoles. The 3060 Ti is a bit better than the console's graphics, and the 8700K is a bit worse than the console's CPUs. You won't see games demanding much more than what the current consoles can do, assuming they aren't PC exclusive.

If you want to play everything at Ultra, or you are gaming at 4K, then the answer is already "no" for 2023 games - those parts already fall short in those situations, let alone games that will come out 2 years from now. However, at more modest settings, it should do fine.

Beyond disappointing to see the contrast in community reaction between the GN/Billet thread and here.

    < needless flaming removed >

Young female LTT employee opens up about being bullied, harassed, and possibly assaulted during her time at the company? Community proceeds to debate the timing, stroke their chins over what "inappropriately grabbed" means, belittles the work the employee did, and attack her professionalism and mental health. And of course the mouth-breathers are in here too adding some unveiled misogyny to the mix.

I haven't been on these forums much or at all the past few months because I was growing disenchanted with LTT's content and I was focused on other hobbies besides PC stuff. This thread makes me not want to be a part of this community at all. Although I'm not sure I would want to have to acknowledge "Yes, I'm an active member of the LTT forums, yes that Linus" after this week anyway.

Origami Cactus got a reaction from Halian_ in Linus's personality - has money changed him?
Yeah, I don't think he has changed either, he has always been that arrogant "i am right, you are wrong" kind of guy that does janky things.
Back in the old house where everyone were friends, they were better at keeping him at bay, and also as you say, they were actually making fun videos where it didn't really matter they were janky, that is what he was known for.
You can see that arrogant personality slip out of Linus in even the old videos, but then there was Nicky V or someone else back at him with a quick jab or a joke for acting like a douche. Now he only has Luke who really can't control him anymore.
