    Those are macrotransactions.

I mean, Fortnite does deserve its success, so you can't really blame them there. I'm not saying it's a better game, as I massively prefer PUBG (and yes, I have played both).

One thing I do disagree with are all these people saying that PUBG is plagued with cheaters and bugs. In all my whopping 230 hours of playing, I've encountered less than 5 cheaters total, and 99% of all the bugs are related to vehicles, and most of the time are funny, rather than annoying.

to be clear, when you say no server grade hardware is available does that also mean Xeon's and motherboards for those on the second hand market?

NO. it only has intel graphics, which means any of those games will run like crap.

Great price for a rebranded LSI HBA.

However, while I personally use FreeNAS and recommend it, I'm not sure it 100% fits the OP's requirements. In particular, the ability to pull out drives and just "read" the data on them. This might be possible in a mirrored vdev pool (RAID1), using a Linux or other FreeNAS box? But he wouldn't be able to read individual HDD's in a RAIDZ1/Z2 (RAID5/6) type pool.

Personally, I don't find that to be a very important feature with my own pool. Either I'm popping in a spare drive, or restoring from backup, if I need a particular file and the array dies.

Get this RAID card and flash it to IT mode.
Also I would recommend using FreeNAS instead of openmediavault cause of much larger community that can help you and much better interface.
FreeNAS thread for flashing into IT mode.

Yes you did read that correctly, CIG have just launched the latest pack of stuff for Star Citizen, to be eligible you must have already spent $1,000 in the game to reach concierge status then the pack unlocks.
For your $27,000 you will get 117 ships and 163 extra items.

Anybody who buys into this Ponzi scheme for $27,000 frankly deserves everything they get, or don't as the case may be.

Youre really only losing 2 threads for an IPC gain with the 8400. I would probably go with the 8400 in this case.

    No

Yes but you will limit the maximum ram to the same as a desktop CPU.

You don't have to but if you want say more than 64GB of ram then you'll need Registered ECC ram.

Yes that will work well, Samsung is another good option to look at and there is heaps on ebay.

    Edit:
FYI if you pair 2133MHz ram with 2400MHz ram the faster ram will down clock to match the slower ram.

Response times are mostly meaningless and unreliable, don't pay them much/any attention.

Go for the 144Hz VA. It's better in basically every way.

Beware, Kaby Lake X user ahead

You have a 1080 or 1080ti? 1080 is slower than 1080ti by quite a margin so just because 1080ti can give insane fps doesnt mean 1080 will do just as well.

BF1 is obviously CPU bottlenecked, PUBG is badly optimized itself and will drop frames like mad. Fortnite results is weird though. Do you have slow memory? Is that a single stick?

m.2 is a connector, it doesn't affect speed.

NVMe is a protocol for data over PCIe.

2.5 is anouther formfactor, it can be sata, ide or pcie.

    What are you doing?

Probably just get a drive like a mx500, get a m.2 if you want less cables.

Something like this will perform much better in games, the motherboard and PSU are much better, it has faster RAM, it has a 250GB SSD and a 2TB HDD and it has a nicer case.
