Dell Precision T3600 Xeon upgrade

Friend of mine picked up a T3600 from a business for free. Has a Xeon but we don't have a DMS-59 cable to use with the GT 610 installed (plz kill me), so we don't know what he has.

Anyway I looked on Dell's site and found a processor list of Xeon's that could be installed with the system. Just stock CPU options.

For those too lazy to click:

Sandy Bridge E5-26xx series, LGA2011: Intel® Xeon™ processors

Small edit, it seems the E5-26xx and E5-16xx series is Sandy Bridge EP

4, 6, and 8 Core support
Up to 130W
Instruction/Data Cache: 32KB
Supports Single Processor
Intel® Xeon®E5-2665 Processor(Eight Core HT, 2.4GHz Turbo, 8 MB Intel Smart Cache, 115 watt)
Intel® Xeon@E5-1660 Processor (Six Core HT, 3.3GHz Turbo, 15MB Intel Smart Cache, 130 watt)
Intel® Xeon®E5-2643 Processor (Four Core HT, 3.3GHz Turbo, 10 MB Intel Smart Cache, 130 watt)
Intel® Xeon®E5-1650 Processor(Six Core HT, 3.2GHz Turbo, 12 MB Intel Smart Cache, 130 watt)
Intel® Xeon®E5-1620 Processor(Four Core HT, 3.6GHz Turbo, 10 MB Intel Smart Cache, 130 watt)
Intel® Xeon®E5-1607 Processor(Four Core HT, 3.0GHz Turbo, 10 MB Intel Smart Cache, 130 watt)
Intel® Xeon®E5-1603 Processor(Four Core HT, 2.8GHz Turbo, 10 MB Intel Smart Cache, 130 watt)

I am kind of torn between recommending the E5-1620 for the 3.6 GHz, and E5-1660 for the extra 2 cores yet decent base clock at 3.3 GHz.

Edit: I found the Xeon  E5-2690 which has a base clock of 2.9 GHz but boosts to 3.8GHz. Worth it? (though the board is rated for 130W, the CPU needs 135W, so will there be a perf. drop?)

Workload will be light, looking like World of Warships/Tanks and maybe Roblox (him not me). I suggested a 1050 TI and it comes with 8GB DDR3@1333MHz (4x2GB).

I'm guessing that the Motherboard will take all LGA2011 Xeon's so I will ark.intel.com some others to find a good CPU too, but I'd like to know what (from this list) would be the better CPU.

{Side note since this is the CPU and Memory subcategory, if the Motherboard had the choice between 1333 and 1600MHz stock, will it be compatible with DDR3@2133?}

I did see that one actually. Looks good, has a better base clock but a lesser boost clock than the step up 1660

At that point it's a matter of the cooler handling a boost clock on a 130W CPU

hmm idk how you will change cooler cause dell has proprietary mounting mechanism.

Maybe this thread will help you.

I will use that if the stock cooler can't handle the turbo.

Thank you!
