Linus is the second largest tech channel, and is close to beating out Apple

lavablade02

Linus is only 400k subs away from beating out Apple, and according to the data from the livestream that means only ~2 months of growth.

I would already consider them the largest tech channel. In my mind, Apple is more of an advertising channel than a tech channel

PUT @Fixinit1 IN YOUR RESPONSE!!!!!

Gosh, I hate it when people forget. Anyway, check out my PC below, and there's a PCPartPicker link on my profile, If you wanna see what I'm planning.

LMG owns more channels than LTT as well, so you can technically say that they are already in 1st position :) (plus what @Fixinit1 said)

What do you consider tech channel? How is this ranking done? MKBHD has more subs than LTT as does Unbox Therapy...

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Unbox Therapy is, yet he's ranked 8th, even though he has close to double the subs of LTT?

That list is not ordered after subs, views or uploads. It's ordered after "Socialblade rank", which is some bullshit rating system which is based on things like how many other channels links to your channel.

Sort by subscribers and LinusTechTips becomes 13th place.

Apple is simply a brand that uses its YouTube channel purely for advertising its products.

This is very important lesson to all who read rankings, charts etc. ALWAYS check what are criteria for ranking, ALWAYS check what scale is being used.

There are oddities in that listing too. Showing Matthias channel as tech when in YT they are tagged as comedy.

Case and point with American group of scientist proving that there's no global warming by using Finnish researchers chart upside down.

Yeah. Though I've not seen the results of that. Our professor of lake sediments was one who told about it. But I've seen other times where there's chart, but actual scientist still can draw conclusions suitable for their initial needs.

Yes, but those videos take much more research prior to filming.

When publishing scientific articles in journals, you're required to sign/accept that your data is original and was not manipulated in any way or form. The penalty is retraction of your article.

I have published myself already. After letting particle simulations run for weeks on end, obtaining unexpected results... then it might be tempted for some to conceal/palliate those results.

It's at that point where one figures out who has a clear conscience and who's in it simply for the fame.

And that my friend is what has gone so terribly wrong in the scientific community. As you stated; you need to publish the data you observed even if it doesn't support your hypothesis. "Pop science" drives me mad where you'll see a lot of the fame seekers but unfortunately there is a segment of hard scientists whom have also chosen this route either for fame's sake or avoidance to a bruised ego.

The choice for a researcher to prioritise fame can have two main reasons:

1) they simply seek fame, for the fame itself... basically celebrity-wise standing in the spotlights; or

2) they seek funding for their research.

Mind you, having a well-known researcher behind a project receives a lot of attention. So this second option can't be overlooked either.

Without giving any names, I know some Professors who fall in one or the other category.

The research for my PhD is part of a much larger research project that receives funds from several governments. So there is no need for media attention to attract fundraisers (= option 2).

However, due to the project itself, some researchers/Professors find it very tempting to stand in the media spotlights though (= option 1). By this, I don't wat to falsly suggest that data manipulation is a problem. In this research area, that's basically impossible to pull off. I simply disapprove the media-seeking behaviour of certain researchers.

I mean Apple only uploades Keynotes, Commercials, and promo videos on their channel.

LMG does way more, produces infinitely more content and has different channels for different audiences. They should be performing better than Apples marketing wing!
