I just wanted to say thank you to all three of you for the recommendation. The card came in today, and beforehand I was running some games and taking note of temps and frame rates. There is a considerable increase in fps, decrease in temperature, and the card is quiet. My RX 580 would be soooo loud, I'm still in a little disbelief that the 6700 is so quiet running at 1440p 144fps. Thanks again guys!

If you talk about stuff actually write what you are talking about. Using code language only makes you look stupid and hard to understand and using words is not wrong it is the context you use them in that makes them wrong or right.

What C word are we talking about?

    Charlie?
    Cunt?
    Coconut?

I have no idea (but I would guess Charlie).

I would get a 6700xt now. Your card is dead and waiting won't get you anything better imo.

I purchased a new 6700xt for $380 USD after taxes, it's a 3 fan card so I paid ~$20 more for it vs base cards. It pulls less power than my 5700xt and performs better. Definitely a good card and I'm happy with it.

Once again, that 600w quote is a mistranslation. The actual quote is saying "we didn't really want to develop a 600w card to beat the 4090", just of course not in those words, I am just paraphrasing.

xFluing got a reaction from _Omega_ in PC makes strange noises, may be coilwire
Sounds like coil whine to me yes.

You can aleviate this by limiting your FPS to about 5 below the monitor's refresh rate (so you are firmly within freesync range if you use AMD), it should also help with temps. Another thing you could try is possibly undervolt the GPU too.

Edit: make sure that any competitive games you are playing don't get the FPS limit as it will increase latency if you care about it that much.

Thanks for the concern everyone. We are still in recovery mode over here and working with YouTube to get everything restored. Will hopefully have a video (or at least an update on WAN Show) to share with you all ASAP, but we want to make sure we get the details right since smaller channels may rely on our experience to help harden their own security.

xFluing got a reaction from Reisser in Somehow lower performance with a better gpu?
Probably a dumb suggestion, but have you checked your resolution? Did you turn on Dynamic Super Resolution?

It could very well be that csgo runs at a higher resolution somehow, otherwise I'm stumped too.

Edit: I'm mentioning Dynamic Super Resolution because it basically enables the video card to render at a resolution higher than native, then scale it down to your monitor. This used to be called super sampling anti aliasing.

It's also the case that when enabling it, some games see the new resolutions and try to run on the highest possible one. (This happened to me, but with AMD's equivalent when launching doom eternal with my new 6700 XT, it autoset the resolution to 8k or something, and of course it ran like ass.)

Unless something changed, from my experience what "prefer maximum performance" does is it makes the card run at 3D clocks no matter what, even on the desktop which isn't exactly ideal. Maybe have him set "prefer maximum performance" only as a per-game setting rather than global.

I'm glad he also brought to light that the x80 cards use their midrange chips, I was shat on too for pointing out the 1080, 2080 etc are actually midrange cards.

Usually motherboards (at least mine) has a pair of "best slots" that support the higher speeds, then the other two slots being much weaker. For instance I think my Tomahawk supports 3200 on A1 B1, but only something like 2800 on A2 B2, so that's what might be happening to you.

It really is a scam though the 4070 ti isnt even a 4070, its a 4060 at best but named 4070 to sell it at 4070 prices, just like with the 1060 3gb which was nothing more than what the 1050 ti should have been.

xFluing reacted to NF-A12x25 in Is a cheap non-80+ rated psu good for this?
Not how it works. A bad PSU is a bad PSU, no matter whether you’re drawing 10 watts or a thousand. It’ll be more sensitive to power fluctuations etc.

xFluing got a reaction from thekingofmonks in We were WRONG about RAM – Or were we?
In the video they call the GK104 anemic compared to GP106, however tier-for-tier it's the GP-106 that's more anemic as it's a lower tier than GK104; imagine how much faster the 1060 (6gb the REAL 1060) would have been had it had the mid-range GP104 chip it should have had.

No, performance does not matter it's NOT mid-range performance, because it's not on a mid-range chip. The real midrange performance is on the 1070 and 1080 which do indeed have the GP104

xFluing reacted to APasz in Nvidia card for physx on an AMD system
Running AMD and NVidia drivers at the same time isn't really an issue anymore. Windows' stupid DM accounts for the majority of issues.

It's possible to specify which processor will do physX work. iirc it can even be specified on a per app basis.

Some games will have problems with physX and rendering being done on different cards. Only solution is to run the game and physX on the same card.
