    1. I want to install a PCIe M.2 card for more M.2 drives. My concern is GPU ventilation. I'm looking for a Duel M.2 PCIe card (not one with SATA).
2 I think that a RTX 4070 or 4070Ti would work OK. Trying for 2 Slot card. Strix is 2.75 and would cover neighboring PCI slot. Was lookin at duel fan TUF card.

Problem with cards are that they are not available with 16GB VRAM that I can see, on 12. Triple fan card is not out of the question. As for PCIe dual M.2 card, may be modding the bracket for the 2.5" drives with a PCIe M.2 card laying flat on stand offs wit a x8 extension may work. I've done stranger stuff.

The main reason I did this was to space the sound card away from the GPU. The 1x slot on the Prime B560M-A is right next to the GPU. Yes it is a MATX board. Done for cost. I want the Ventus 2 RTX 3060TI to have adequate ventilation. Well after a long session of GTA 5 the GPU hit 72.5c. That's fine. Original content can be found on this:

You will begin to see this  from MS update to let you know that your hardware is set up to run Windows 11. I know this is a sore subject, and it seems that all it is about is revenue for Microsoft.

I believe that you need Ryzen 3000 series or better or 8th gen Intel or better.
TPM 2.0 enabled (check with mainboard makers on how to do that)
    Secure Boot enabled

This is my understanding of the stupidly strict requirements.

Programs that I am concerned with:
    Windows Media Payer
I have a lot of audio CDs ripped in a high bit rate that can not be acquired online. I do this for better surround sound.

MS wants to support hardware companies. You will need 8th gen or better for the TPM 2.0 support to be built in to CPU. You will also need to have Secure boot enabled. If your not sure, run WhyNotWin11. It's a monopoly again.

We'll have to except new requirements or switch to a Linux distro. I would reluctantly stay with Microsoft. More games run on it right now. For us Linux is quite limited in this department. I will say that I do not like where they are going with this. Who knows how much stricter it will get, hardware is only the beginning.

Video that might be pulled from this helped me figure it out. Normal person would never figure it out. Always trying to sell something. It's built into the CPU. Don't fall for it. Did that, Windows 11 can now be installed as per future proofing.

My Asus laptop from q2 of 2020 already is compatible without BIOS adjusting. It's a Asus Vivobook. At least I figured it out. A little help from Handy Andy tech tips. LTT should also cover this. Only problem I can see is if the CMOS battery dies.

Eric Kazer got a reaction from kirashi in Microsoft pulled the 2004 Feature update.
    Hi,
Microsoft pulled the 2004 feature update. I tied to install it on one of my computers. It's blocked. I tried the one under the Insider update and it was unstable in that it was popping up Cortana Sign in. It was pulling me out of maximized windows every time it came up. Disabling it in Start-Up did not work. Stopping the service also did not work. I had to roll-back to 1909.

The Feature update that was pulled was stable enough to use. The Insider Evaluation version is stable but not usable because of the Cortana sign in window.

I strongly oppose using the Insider Update as of 7-15-2020 be cause of Cortana. It will pull you out of a full screened game. That's not good.

The 2004 that was pulled has problems with the Disk Optimizer tool, but works fine otherwise. The OS won't even allow updating though a flash drive. I think Microsoft is working on it.

Eric Kazer got a reaction from mr cheese in Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF in standard case.
    Hi,
The reason I am writing this is because of the front IO. I was able to get the rest working.

    The fans:
For the CPU fan I mounted the front fan from the original case to the CPU Cooler with one screw and just plugged that into the CPU fan port on the motherboard.

For the front fan I had a fan the I already hacked the wiring on that I had in my Dell Optiplex 330. The wiring and the plug are the same.
Black to black, Red to Red, Blue to Blue, Yellow to Yellow or White. Depend on who made it. Original fan in Optiplex 330 was Matsushita. The Yellow and the blue are critical because one is tach signal and on is fan control. Black ground or negative, and Red Positive.

    For the CPU Heatsink:
I right now am use the original cooler with a universal backplate from a Corsair H60 cooler to secure the heatsink to the CPU. It works the same way that the standoffs on the Optiplex's chassis do for the CPU cooler mount. Clears all of the solder points on the motherboard and has teflon spacers.

The PSU is a Corsair 500 watt unit. Just plugs in like any other board.

The motherboard mounts with 6 standoffs and screws.

The power switch is out of the Optiplex.
It was the right cable length, no need to modify switch or cable. I did however mod the case to accept the switch. Just pop off the button and put the cable through the front of the font panel. It's crude but it works. Connector has 5 wires and a really small plug.

Now for the part that I need help with.
I need to get the front IO part done. It looks like I need a front USB3 extension cable for Motherboard to Motherboard out with pin 20 removed to plug the dell cable into it.
The audio cable is a problem to. Also Front IO has a HDD light on it too and whatever Dell did with wiring to produce error message.

Machine runs and boots after pressing F1 to dismiss error message. No error about fan failure after installing modded fan.

I also remove the hard drive bay form the case and used a Icy Dock 2.5" x2 to 3.5 " drive adapter. I secured it to the bottom of the case.

Dell did a good job of complicating things with the front IO. I will have to make a front IO panel for USB, Audio and HDD activity light. Also while using Dells wiring and extending it.

Eric Kazer got a reaction from amdorintel in Ultra Blu Ray is disappointing
Not only do I need a Ultra Blu Ray drive, I also need a I7 Kaby Lake CPU. F---ing DRM bullshit. I can see need to upgrade a drive, but I shouldn't need to upgrade a whole system for a format. They should have a software mode to use a Ultra Blu Ray disc. I can run GTA 5 at a respectable frame rate, but I can't watch a Ultra blu Ray. I wonder if Ryzen can do it. This is how they are destroying the movie industry. Bend over to watch 4k. The Hoovers are on. Also, $40 per disc last time I looked. It is a decently specced system and does 4k Youtube like nothing.

DRM is loss of freedom. Everything is designed to cost more and more money. Who wants to jump 4 generations if CPU and motherboard to watch a different format. Or buy another playback machine for one format every 4 years at the average of 400 dollars per machine.

I would rather spend money on content. I should only have to buy drive and monitor, not whole setup. at $1200 plus.

Hope there is a crack to get playback.

I clean installed Windows 10 pro and was able to activate it with the key that was on the machine which was a Windows 7 Pro key. Great deal if it comes back.

Made for a quick build. Probably cheapest of the year.

Use it for parts or use it for a build, I7-3770 is still a good CPU.

Right now I've been stress testing with CPUz and it has so far after 20 minutes hit Max of 66c on package. I think that is cooler than the stock Itel was idling. So far Nothing has snapped. At 8:40 I will stop and see temps drop. I start 10 after 8. It hit 67c. I am giving time to drop It's already in 40's and dropping. High 30s at 8:42.  It's in mid to high 30's now. Around 35 to 38c. Cooler is keeping up. Way better than Intel stock cooler. Now at 8:47 after stopping test 33 to 35c. Hope those screws hold up, and I am not proud of using that beefy stock back plate with sheet metal screws.

See if a Heaven test can break it. Doing bench mark to see if system will heat things up with CPU. Scored 1575 in 1080p on High. CPU was in 40s when I left Heaven. Card hit 72c. I will see GTA 5 after I eat dinner. I was getting 60 FPS on High settings with stock. Just High no very high setting. Should use CPU and GPU to make heat. Max on CPU did not hit anywhere past 67c and GPU did not go past 72 c from other tests. This was after 30 minutes of GTA 5.  Case is cool to touch too. Much better results.
