dragoon20005 reacted to VenkiPhy6 in The Bang - An APU based Value PC - Build log [BENCHMARKS ARE HERE! Overclocking advice would be appreciated]
I know this is an old thread. Sorry for digging this up from the grave.

But man this PC has such precious memories now! Since this build, I finished my Bachelor's, moved out of the city (in which I lived for nearly 20 years), finished my Master's during which my parents moved out of my childhood home(which is where I built this PC) and I ended up getting a Data Analyst job! My life is totally different from when I built this PC.... but the PC still works! It is obviously not my primary machine (been the case for nearly the last 2 years. I currently have a Acer VX-15 laptop.) but every time I go back to my parent's place and look at it, it is so nostalgic. Also in the middle of all this, my brother got married and this PC will be going to my nephew in a few months time (obviously with a few upgrades)!

In the middle of all the benchmarking and other techy stuff, we really don't talk enough about the emotional aspects of owning a PC. LIke, I bet I won't have this sorta attachment if it was a console. Worth every penny - I had friends over for gaming night, I applied for my Master's degree with this, I took several MOOCs on it (which inspired me to go for the Master's in the first place!), I learnt to code in Python .... so MANY MEMORIES!

Sorry, for all the cheesiness but I don't think this log would be complete without it...

the Fortigate comminuty and forums are pretty helpful and give tips on what to use to block and set up the deny/allow rights.

usually our style is blanket ban everything and slowly put back rights for connection for Whatsapp because it an important commutation tool.

Most of the heavy bandwidth stuffs like Youtube are easily throttled to the point you cant watch the video on Wifi and force users to use 4G

With Fortigate and a tiny bit of actually giving a damn you can block things like Facebook chat without blocking Facebook completely, had to do this because some class thought it would be a good idea to use Facebook for teaching and the school used it for stuff too. I die a little inside every time a school starts to officially use Facebook.

I have configurations that put a stop to all mobile game apps just by blocking the ports used by the app

most modern Firewall devices like Fortigate which i am using for my customers is effective for blocking webpages, spam mail and game connections

unless the school IT team are just plain lazy. Pretty sure it just using wireshark

Get better firewalls and block it..... not hard. If they want to use up all their mobile data then go right ahead, pay for it.

I have an SN-95 Mustang and a V10 F250. I honestly dont see any merit to putting the V10 in a Mustang. Anything is possible, but youre going to spend a bunch of time and money doing something that can be done better and easier for cheaper with a different engine.

I wouldn't kill Hitler honestly. It would have been a terrible blow to the fascist movement, and with the turmoil Germany was in either the Nazis or the Communists were going to take that country over. As shitty as it sounds, it was much better the Nazis won control of the nation. Had the Communists won the civil war and Germany joined the USSR they'd still be led by just as bad a mass murderer. But then France would have probably had a communist revolution and joined the USSR too. They were already pretty close, which is one of the big reasons they were so unprepared for the Nazi invasion. Now you give Stalin all this land and all these usable sea ports he didn't have in Russia while the US is still in a massive depression and the USSR probably becomes the great superpower of the world. They would probably conquer all of Europe other than the UK. The only way you could have stopped this clusterfuck was to not completely bend Germany over with the Treaty of Versailles to end WWI. It's why the US went and rebuilt West Germany, to try to head off a WWIII. Which I'm still amazed didn't happen when the Berlin Wall fell, so I gotta give a lot of credit to both Bush 41 and Gorbachev.

Heisenberg had a design for a bomb, but not one that would work.  He believed an uncontrolled nuclear chain reaction of any critical mass would eventually explode.  He thought his bomb design would Hiroshima'd, but instead it would have Chernobyl'd (albeit a lot smaller).  Still destructive, but not the expected city leveling. His designs were also much larger than what a V-2 could loft, but that would just require a bigger V-2.

Much of the tank destruction towards the end of the world had to do with ammunition.  The Germans were essentially out of tungsten, the allies were not.  This mattered a great deal!  The "premium ammo" of war of tanks is frequently criticized for not being realistic, but it actually kind of is.

Any interesting "what if" is if Hitler had publicly denounced Pearl Harbor instead of praising it, even going so far as to declare war on Japan.  Only publicly, of course, in private nothing would change.  Would that have been enough for the US to concentrate on the Pacific first?  It could have bought the Germans more time at least...

I believe there was only enough material for 3 bombs in total: Trinity, plus the two that were dropped.  There was no more after Nagasaki.  Not that it would have mattered, production was at full speed at both Hanford and Oak Ridge; it would only have been a matter of time until more devices were available.

we are covering a broad aspect of World War 2 and how it will turn out if Nazi Germany had the weapons ready and if Hitler made the correct decisions here and there. Killing Hitler is pointless here because as i explained in my previous post

Joseph Goebbels and Heinrich Himmler are the brains and strengths of the Nazi party.

The Maus tank if produced in mass numbers and with the short comings removed would been OP and flip the situation in favor of Germany.

Most of their idea and engineering were there and miles ahead of its time. But it was poor decision and lack of resources which brought Nazi Germany downfall.

it could be used defecivly. and it would if entered service late war. but in the offensive parts of the war, like the siege of Stalingrad it would be used to break through heavily fortified lines. Which is the only sane way to use it. The T 95/28 would be used the same way. Defecnivly and offecivly if needed. But to all intents and purposes the Maus is a siege tank. It could be used to cover bunkers, but it doesnt really live up to that role very well. You wouldnt want to dig down any tank. the russians did during the siege of stalingrad to defend, but digging down a 188 ton tank instead of telling it to advance is silly.

It prob depends on the game developer to make use of the phone in built GPU capability

EA made Need For Speed No Limits for the mobile and they use both OpenGL and Vulken API for the game and it does look stunning.

yes i agree to some point that ppl leave app running in the background without completely closing it.

Coming from my Samsung S4 to the current S7 Edge, I always have the habit of closing all my previous apps to clear the RAM being used. And also frequently clear my phone cache of any junk files.

With the current Android 7, true multi tasking is still not possible. Yes you can play your own music over the app that your are using.

I still hate the fact I can't play my Youtube music play list while the screen is off.

My main browser for my phone is Firefox instead of Chrome. So my RAM usage isnt as bad

Prob the most RAM hungry app is prob Need For Speed No Limits

Hitler didnt work alone to seize power of Germany and become the Führer

Joseph Goebbels and Heinrich Himmler are the brains and strengths of the Nazi party

Joseph Goebbels way of portraying Hitler as the savior thru propaganda via radio, brain washed every German Citizen to vote Hitler into power.

Even when Hitler was thrown into jail

Joseph Goebbels continue running Hitler's party and influence voters to support the DAP later named NSDAP

Once Hitler received the appointment as chancellor

the Enabling Act was the chance for Hitler's party to seize control of the govt and Hitler appoint himself to become the Fuhrer

While you guys say that Hitler killed himself on 30 April 1945

Most countries had projects for breakthrough tank like the Maus. Examples include the US T95/T28, British A39 Tortoise and Russian Is 3.

The IS 3 which is comperable to the King Tiger or Tiger 2, was ready for service in May 1945. Too late to join the war, however had much more advanced armor profiling than the Tiger 2 and could knock eachother out at roughly the same ranges. Though the IS 3 being more low-profile and cheaper in terms of material to produce. Though it was ready later than the Tiger 2. IS 2 tanks were allready in the fueld with the same gun the IS 3 would have used. The Maus would be impervious to any anti-tank gun (except at point blank range), it is questionable if it would survive the followup SPG regiments that followed heavytank regiments (Su-152, ISU152, Su-122, Isu122) however that will allways be the case with breakthrough tanks. Fun fact: the bulk you see at the front of the only remaining Maus is a shot from a 122 mm d25t cannon, which were moubted on the IS 2 and onwards.
The allied had the M 26 pershing, which would suffice at shorter ranges against the Tiger 2. Though the Tiger would ve better at in 1 on 1 combat.

The short is that the germans had very good tanks, however the tanks they had were not very efficient when it came to cost of production. The design wasnt supirior in terms lf armor management. Yes they had a lack of resources. But unlike the russians they didnt seem to bother making an efficient design with ultimately better armor for the cost. Very good if you have unlimited resources, but in a war-economy? Everything there is logistics and ability to cut corners in terms of production to lower cost. something the allies and especially the russians were good at. Id say supirior tanks(yes, but not for long), but not supirior design
