Have you updated video drivers? What BIOS version?

It was a BIOS issue. I was on a 2021 issue. It's the fTPM stutter which I didn't encounter since I win 11 wasn't supported on my Ryzen 3 1200. Thanks a lot for pointing this out and @XYZ8858 too 🙂

Lalit Kumar reacted to mariushm in Is it possible to power a HDD without a desktop PSU ?
Well, a desktop mechanical drive will consume around 6-8 watts in total, and will take around 3w of that on 5v (for the circuit board, chips on the pcb) and the rest of around 3-5 watts will be on 12v.
But, when the motor starts, the drive will take a bit more power, let's say maybe a couple watts more so let's say 8-10w for a few seconds.
So basically 10w on 12v should be enough.  To produce 10w on 12v from 5v, you'd need around 11w on 5v due to conversion efficiency losses.

The laptop will probably be capped at around 1.5-2A on 5v on the sata power connector, I doubt the voltage regulator will be capable of more... so you can't really produce 10w on 12v from just the sata power connector on your laptop.
usb 3.0 ports will output at least 1A each ... so you could take 5v from two such usb connectors and get your 10w

If you're gonna power the laptop motherboard from laptop adapter, through a barrel jack, you have another option ... you could solder two wires to the barrel jack pins and get 16v...20v from there (whatever voltage is supplied by the laptop adapter).
You can then make a step-down / buck dc-dc converter to convert that voltage to 12v and you can enable the dc-dc converter with a signal from the 5v power from the sata power connector - this way the dc-dc converter only produces 12v when the laptop turns on and powers the circuit board on the drive.

Thanks for the confirmation ! I don't want to use any USB solutions for multiple reasons. Also, I want to DIY this one 😄 Thanks !
Nice. Thanks. I want to make this one myself. I like making stuff like this and I most probably have all the stuff I will need to make this one.

Thanks a lot everyone for the confirmation. I'll make my server and post it here ! 😄 Thanks again !

Prob a scam, i dont think anything would explain why there would be such a specific cut to the card model while not making a mess to the rest of the sticker so def a deliberate cut, moron cant even scam properly xD

Lalit Kumar got a reaction from Ben17 in Can this RGB strip be connected to my mobo so I can control the colours ?
I can't make out much from the images itself but in the first image, it's a regular RGB connector from a controller to the strip. The controller requires 12v which is sometimes taken from molex if your mobo doesnt have a rgb controller builtin. So it's pretty much a regular rgb strip connected to a controller that's powered through a molex.

Admit it, We all had these moments. I love reading such stuff. Post your story here. I actually did some real cringy stuff myself. I got the idea for this Thread

    Here's my entry :
I cringe at myself every time I visit this website. When I got my first PC, back in 2010 or something like that, I always watched videos on how to increase RAM for free since I had only 2 Gigs of it. Well, I found this website and clicked that 4GB ram since I didn't want to be too greedy and was sacred it will charge me somehow. So After I had "Downloaded" it, I clicked the more info button and I was rick rolled. But that was not the ending. My stupid-as-myself friend was sitting next to me and he said we have to watch the complete video to "get" the RAM. So we watched the whole complete rick roll video and checked my PC. It still had 2Gigs of RAM. Our day was ruined and we disliked the video and commented "I still have 2 GB of RAM. You scammed me.".

    Another One :
I tried installing COD : MW but my PC was crappy so it didn't work. I thought about changing my CPU. I found how this "TRICK" to change my CPU name using the registry. So I changed it to "INTEL TM 10GHZ SUPERPOWERFUL PROCESSOR 2013". I know, just don't loose a few teeth from the cringe.

    And surprisingly COD didn't work

Technically i don't think this is a "HUGE news" or whatever . you see the same behavior with online targeted censoring on activists & political bias news in literally every region all over the globe. we just hear about those that get out into mainstream or coming from political opposition. Though this sounds sorta frustrating , it's a "whose hands have less blood" kinda thing.  every online platform does this.

Nice ! Thanks of the correction too. Realme X seems like a great device. I thought the Mi A series had 4000mah battery as it is pretty much the standard for Xiaomi devices

So you basically want a phone with <6" screen size, good battery and stock android ? Well, most of the modern devices have a screen size >6". I would recommend the Xiaomi Mi A1. It has a 5.5" screen, no notch, simple yet nice design, SD 625, 4000mah battery and android One. The Mi A2 is a good choice too for her. Also, check out the Mi A2 Lite if that's available.
