And the i7 7700k is still the #1 gaming CPU, lmaoooo. Who gives a rats behind about some random youtuber making a video about Intel. I don't

I don't dispute the damage. I'm saying the most likely reason for the cause. As an electronic engineer I understand it probably better than you do. If this was a common phenomenon then other reviewers and our own LTT users would have come across the same issue.
I'm not defending anything it has pros and cons, as does anything. I won't be buying it I'm more than satisfied with my 1700 at the price it cost. Amazing value and great performance IMO.
Yeah careful. While I do watch for the entertainment factor careful not to take him as gospel. Afterall he did say delidding was pointless and not worth it. He also botched a delid. Anyone who has done it properly knows you can gain around 20 degrees and more overclocking headroom.

Intel just needs to price their CoffeeLake chips appropriately and R3 will become / transcend into a still birth

Nope. It simply looks like the 12 core won't be soldered and the 14 core will be
LMAO, burnt GROUND pins is Steve's fault, not Intel's

How is your CPU pin getting destroyed at a measly 1.25v not a design flaw?

Haha. Mate, that's not a foreign substance. That's literally the chip pin burning out.
I cannot believe you are defending the x299 platform. Even after Linus` video.. Sad. So much for a movement.

It certainly has the most features, with the least amount of compromises.
Pentiums also completely lack AVX, and it's almost impossible to make them run hot, short of removing all cooling entirely, lol. I should go delid my pentium, just to see if I can get it to run ambient under load, lol.

Fonzie92 reacted to Jito463 in rumor has it RX Vega XT(X) will actually be called Vega 64
Except we don't know anything for certain right now. All we have is rumor and speculation.
One should never pre-order hardware. Even with Ryzen - as hyped as I was for it (and, as it turns out, with good reason) - I waited nearly a month after launch to order it. Part of that was lack of funds until then, but I would have waited even if I had the money. Pre-ordering hardware without benchmarks is even worse than pre-ordering video games without reviews.

You're welcome to have the discussion you were having in a different thread for that purpose, as the title of this thread says it's about X299 not something else. Mentions of competing products or other ones is fine in context but it is totally not acceptable when 80% of the topic has nothing to do with the topic.

No way on God's green earth it'll be faster. Benchmarks already show it barely competes with a 1080.

4.7 on a 6 core? They better not use mayo between the die and IHS again then, otherwise its a free heater at least.

The 1600(X) will likely still spank it for value.
I don't think Intel can price it much higher than a 7700k. There is already the 7800X also with 6c12t above it and I think the mainstream one will have to be priced below that.

maybe... but If i want my PC to be faster than someone elses, it shouldn't solely be a measure of how much money i can throw at it. There should be certain nuances and tweakable things for the daring and educated enthusiasts to exploit (such as a de-lid) in order to give us that special edge IMO. and with each generation of hardware, the term "enthusiast" just becomes more and more synonymous with "baller"... pc performance is just becoming a spending game as we go forward. Which is fine, I'm not complaining that a $1000 GPU out performs a $500 GPU, obviously it should.... but not every $500 dollar GPU in the world should perform pretty much identically to every other $500 GPU IMO... not when you take user knowledge and experience into account.
Because, to be fair, the Intel "shit TIM" is only bad because we know better things exist. If you just take the 7700k at face value, and say it can get 4.8GHz or 5GHz or whatever frequency your 7700k can reach out of the box with your chosen cooler.... its still the undisputed gaming performance king by a pretty wide margin (not considering previous i7's like 6700k, 4790k, and so on which all suffer from the same "shit TIM"). its a monster of a CPU, and sure while hot, can be kept in check by a proper amount of cooling. for anyone who doesn't know that the IHS is not soldered to the die (which is actually the fair majority of people outside of a tech group like this) its the best, most badass, no-compromise CPU there is (for gaming). I mean sure AMD solders their CPU's, which is all well and good, but as far as raw performance goes they just don't compete... and there is not a whole lot of things you can do to change that. (not hating on AMD, Ryzen is kicking ass, just using them as the example since they're the only competition out there).

Look man, if this is true, Vega is a failure. If they price it at $350-400 it's not going to fail. But a 1080 competitor for $900 is just a bad buy.
Ryzen is awesome, Vega, not so much. Let's hope that Navi is better.
