Intel fans will still buy them, and they’re still solid CPUs (better clocks speeds for unlocked ones, better IPC), but Ryzen 3 is a large chunk cheaper, and doesn’t need a special chipset to OC, just B350. Which I’d call mainstream, since I don’t see why A320 exists.

Intel would have 2 cpus worth buying on the mainstream but they decided to kill the G4560 themselves  so now its:

<$300 = Pick Ryzen to suit budget.

$300 gaming only? = i7

$300 mixed workload/workstation? = 1700

i dont think i3s or i5s are dying anytime soon, this would only force intel to be more competitive in that price range.

I think you said that on another thread, and Intel can’t. They already cut production amounts of the G4560, since it was cannibalizing their i3 lineup.  They couldn’t make it unlockable, or it may eat their i5s. And the i7 2600K is pretty old AFAIK, and we’re talking about new CPUs here.

Not only cheaper, but performs far better than a current gen R3. (See Gamer's Nexus video right now). R3 is a flop.

 

The i3 7350k performs far better than gaming and Intel recently lowered its price. And the g4560 is like 54-60$ and performs similarly to the R3s.  Intel should release a g4560 unlocked variant to put the R3s at peace. The entire lineup is useless.

 

Only good thing to come out of AMD recently is the R5 1600. Which is a monster.

You bought used, buddy. We’re comparing the new Ryzen lineup to Intel’s current offerings. In the used market, AMD doesn’t have any CPUs that can beat Intel’s since they had FX and Athlon and other mediocre CPUs. That’s why Ryzen is such big news, since they’re forcing Intel to be competitive again. And competition is always good for the consumer,

Well if coffeelake is going to be very competitive, than it will drive sales away from ryzen 3 and give intel a pathway of advantages.
