TechyInAZ got a reaction from Ben17 in How to Install Ryzen Power Plan?
Hey guys, just wondering, what do I do to get the ryzen power plan on my system? I heard it's in the chipset drivers from AMD, however i've already installed chipset drivers from my motherboard manufacturer's website (asus Crosshair VI).
Do I need to have both chipset drivers installed?

It's not there though. Only the normal three are there, not the Ryzen one.

So install AMD's chipset drivers even though I have asus' drivers on my computer aswell? @jdwii

Thank you all, I did get the ones from amd, uninstalled the asus chipset driver and installed the chipset driver from AMD and it did come with the Ryzen power plan. Thanks again!
I'm very new to AMD, this is my first high end AMD PC I've ever built or used, so I had no idea you needed to go to AMD to get chipset drivers like graphics card drivers.

CL14 3000MHz and CL16 3200mhz are basically equal with CL16 3200Mhz doing a 1-3% better in games.
So with CL15 3000mhz, it'll be even great difference so CL16 3200MHz is a no brainier.

They ought to plan ahead more carefully this time at least. The 1060 6GB should have been called the 1060 ti (which would have been cool, first generation with all cards to have a ti version).

TechyInAZ got a reaction from CantKyou in Gsync help
Fast Sync is only meant for low demanding titles that run at over 2x your monitors refresh rate. If your's is 60hz, then enable Fast Sync if you get a consistent 120+FPS.
Fast Sync gives you less peripheral latency with no screen tearing (so better than no v sync for the non competitive gamer).
For everything else either disable V Sync, run V Sync, or run Adaptive V-Sync it's a personal preference.

TechyInAZ reacted to Sakkura in Why 90% of X370 motherboards Only Have ONE M.2 Slot?
Ryzen has 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes (mainly) for graphics cards, which can be split to two ports with 8 lanes each. That's not usable for M.2 (maximum of 4 lanes). It also has a dedicated 4 PCIe 3.0 lanes for an NVMe M.2 drive.
The rest goes through the chipset (X370 etc), which only offers PCIe 2.0 lanes, not 3.0, which would hold back performance for faster NVMe drives.
Z270, on the other hand, does have PCIe 3.0 lanes on the chipset. And while Kaby Lake CPUs do not actually have dedicated PCIe lanes for NVMe M.2, it can split its 16 lanes for graphics into x8/x4/x4, the latter being usable for M.2 slots.
That said, more X470 boards do seem to have moved to dual M.2 slots, despite nothing really changing in the CPUs or chipset.

R3 1200 for sure. G4560 is only a dual core without overclocking capability.

Nah, the 960 doesnt have the compute power to use that extra VRAM. It's only marginally better than your 270X anyway, which means it's not a good buy for you.

Best thing you got for an AIO is a NZXT g12 bracket with an AIO cooler.

TechyInAZ got a reaction from ThatOneGuyFromBANGbus in Will an i5-7400 kaby lake bottleneck a gtx 1080?
I have no idea where these guys are getting their info, but the i5 7400 WILL NOT bottleneck a GTX 1080 a ton like they say.
Will there be a small bottleneck? Sure, but one that isn't noticeable, unless you are super competitive and need as many FPS as you can get.
For the record, I have a Ryzen 7 1700X at a stock 3.4ghz and in all my games that don't use more than 4 threads there hasn't been a bottleneck. I also have a GTX 1080.

Just like other's have said, what's hularious is Coffee Lake will completely RIP X299 4-6 core CPUs. LOL

I think it's already been confirmed that Cannon lake will be 6 cores for i5 and i7.
But yeah that would be the more optimal solution ^^^ I'm assuming they stuck with 6 cores on i7 because of package issues (probably need a bigger socket since they also want the IGPU still on the die.)

I'm really curious about the Zen+ core coming soon (i think very late 2018 or 2019), probably not a higher core count but if AMD can get in a better IMC and higher clocks, that'll be really good.

Thanks to AMD IMCs, people are being forced to learn more about manual timings than ever. This isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I can pretty much guarantee you that is not going to happen. Uneven core counts are nowhere to be found anymore.

Yeah true, but Intel seems to be quite solid on even core counts. I wouldn't mind a hyperthreaded tri core cpu on the market (as long as the CPU has at least 4 threads, i'm happy) though.

Yeah LTT said the Core i3 4C/8T CPU was fake on the WAN show. Seems like more accurate rumors indicate the core i3 is a pure quad core with 4 threads (which makes a whole lot more sense).
