The number of adapters is increasing by the minute. Now you need to get an adapter even for charging - is there anything you can use at its best with the usb-c ports, or...?

Sometimes (a lot of the times with Apple), proprietary connectors are simply superior. Yes, we now have the option to use any USB-C cable to charge now but there are compromises to being the jack of all trades.

Gotta love Power Users continual attempts at Power Usering the MacBook when Apple clearly doesn't want you to.

It's like you're all in denial that the MacBook (or any Apple device for that matter) is for anyone other than grandma's or coffee-sipping wannabe bloggers.

The issue here isn't that they don't support XXX, its that they used to support XXX but then one day decided they didn't want to support it anymore so actively changed their software in order to remove support.
 
Anybody familiar with Apples business practices can guess what their motives were, they want to ensure their customers buy as many dongles and adapters from them as possible and as Thunderbolt allows device daisychaining it was only disabled by Apple to ensure customers spend more money with them at the checkout.
 
FTR dropping support for something when profit is the only motive (aka planned obsolescence) is not illegal but it should make people question the ethical standard of them as a company and yet they continue to sell millions upon millions of laptops every single year.
