Duver reacted to helping in Potential reason for the bending issues of the iPhone 6 Plus
The simple fact is Apple is reporting that data and is free to do whatever it wants with the data it receives.
I originally didn't even bother discussing "9 incidences" when this first came about because I thought it was a baseless point and not worth discussing, but here we are and it somehow has leverage.

Is 9 reports of a bent iPhone 6 good or bad? I'd say that's great. Unrealistically great. I'd expect there to be at least 9 bent on the day of release based on the volume pushed and the fact that people use them. 9 cases is isn't even a practical number for a "best case scenario, phone designed by Jesus himself" accounting.

Furthermore, how do you even quantify this? How does Apple determine that a bent iPhone 6 is their fault? What stops the employee under the boss under the boss under the boss under the boss under the boss under the supervisor under the boss under the manager under the supervisor under the boss under the manager under the manager from saying "sorry, your iPhone 6+ broke due to your lack of care with the device and is not our concern, this will go in as misuse, that will be 300$ for a repair unit"

How does someone realize this is Apples fault instead of thinking "darn, I must have not taken care of my phone" instead of "darn, this phone is faulty, I better report that it's bent to Apple, furthermore it's not my fault"

If there were only 9 reports, how did they quantify that in the first place. Did different people have to write down "bent phone" in the comments box in the Apple complaint box in the basement under the stairs? Is there a box that an employee must check to indicate a bent iPhone? If the number was only 9, why was the checkbox even there to begin with if the number is so miniscule and ignorable? Who counted this number? Did some guy send an email asking Apple store managers how many units were report bent? Did a store manager or two accidentally fat finger a number on his compact keyboard's number pad before hitting enter, causing it to read as "03" instead of 0? Did an employee tell another employee about someone reporting a bent phone on their way to the bathroom and the manager overheard it? Did Apple just crawl through social media websites for "bent iphone" and contact them directly and write each one of them down as a case?

Hell, with handling and manufacturing tolerances even 9 if the phone was damn near perfect is barely believable.

Like I said, I'm at a loss for words and I cannot even begin to explain how silly this situation and logic is. The fact that they put out numbers gives me a surge of emotion ranging from bewilderment to frustrated giggles to a point where it could be mistaken for lunacy.

On another note, we should go back to Windows XP because there were only 11 error reports submitted, so I guess nobody else has had any problems through it's entire lifetime and we can write that off as uncorrectable flaw and error.

Duver reacted to That Norwegian Guy in Linus takes the final step in abandoning his original audience.
I know this will draw hate as is common on criticism, keep in mind this is my opinion and I'm sure Linus will do fine when shifting his content on to a different demographic altogether. Afterall, smartphones and general consumer gadgets are popular watching and I'm sure many of Linus' new audience is here and ready to defend him. But this is constructive criticism, so I would appreciate the same gesture in return.

Having been watching LTT for a long time, it has gone increasingly downhill over a long period of time for me:

Linus prioritizing boutique video quality sacrificing all quantity and depth of insight. We're down to less than a video a day, and the ones we get are usually shorter and less opinionated/ insightful. Forgetting who the audience is with an increasing number of consumer gadgets, (seriously, a wi-fi plant humidifier??) mobile phones, and other borderline tech of fringe interest to PC enthusiasts, even further lowering the quantity of content desired. Getting on the same release bandwagon as all. the. other. tech. channels. Every video with a product I want to watch either doesn't exist at all or is covered by OC3D, Linus, TekSyndicate, TastyPC, SWEclockers and HardwareCanucks ALL AT ONCE. Random WAN show guests that I very often find to be irrelevant and annoying. Getting that weird uncomfortable YouTube "buddy club" vibe that just kind of smells bad to me. Josh from Fractal being an exception. Why go to PAX? There are hundreds of YouTube channels doing PAX. Just why? Where are all the hidden gems in PC hardware? Have Linus completely abandoned reaching out to manufacturers for samples of interesting new coolers, cases, NAS boxes, you name it? It just seems Linus is more interested in autonomy, getting all the same stuff as everyone else, and losing touch with the market. It used to be about consumer enlightenment, showcasing stuff you might not have heard of. Remember the Thermaltake Tt eSports BAG? That kind of thing. I bought one because of Linus. What has Linus shown me in the past 6 months that I wanted to buy afterwards? Absolutely nothing, I'm afraid.
But the final step that is probably going to make me unsubscribe, is not going to Computex. Seriously, that is gutting. That is a stone-cold knife in the back to the original audience of the channel, to whom Computex is probably the highlight of the entire year, after the huge thrill of covering it last year. I could forgive anything from Linus but not that.

It makes me sad, as Linus Tech Tips has been my very favourite channel for years, but now it is my least favourite of all my subscriptions.

    My 2 rubel, anyway.

Well that's an impotent way of thinking about it. It's like saying, why? the FX 8350 destroys the pentium G 620 ! well yeah but it's 130$ more expensive ! The 3770K is also 130$ more expensive than the FX 8350 ! & it's barely faster.
However the FX 8350 vs i5 3570k is a more reasonable comparison, since they're closer in price (3570k is still more expensive + intel motherboards are also more expensive) yet still, the FX 8350 has so much more raw performance than the i5 which is unutilized due to poor software coding.
The performance/clock argument is over & done for, all game developers agreed that gaming on more cores is clearly the way to go forward.

Hold on guys, considering 760 SLI is $150 cheaper than a 780, I wouldn't be so quick to rule it out.  That's a pretty big chunk of change.  And 760 SLI outclasses both 780 and Titan by a pretty significant margin (in games).

If expandability isn't high on the priority list, and you want to save a few bucks, then IMO 760 SLI is a great option, despite the greater power consumption.

He's doing 3D though, so he'll need the extra horsepower to run at 120Hz.

First of all because AMD is in a duopoly with Nvidia and Intel in the desktop GPU and CPU markets, and supporting the losing side of the duopoly is often necessary to keep the market competitive. Besides that, it's outright outrageous to say that AMD doesn't deliver good products, you don't even have to look into the past (but they still have tons of great products from the past...)! Here are some examples of AMD products that are better (better is a word based completely on opinion so it means I think they are superior) than their competitors offerings: R7950, FX8350, FX8320, FX6300, R7990. This isn't all to say that Intel and Nvidia aren't good companies, in fact, my build has a 3930k and GTX 670 in it, but your comment has such a clear baseless bias against AMD that it's hard to take anything you said seriously.

Stating what truth? I just said that look at the designs of the chips and how things work, instead of playing benchmark-warrior and wondering why something does not perform as well, If you look at the actual methodology behind the chip design you can see that AMD does have a really good idea with greater parallelism, as this typically scales better then the intel hyper-threading equivalent. Performance gained from unthreaded to threaded, Im more interested in seeing an advancement in tech, I really think AMD has something here that if they can perfect the design and change the market stigma of making programs run on a single core they have one hell of a chip. I care about how CPUs are designed and the FX series is a farcry from previous designs, and I think its a change for the better as Im at least familiar with the internal working of a CPU and its design and manufacturing as well as coding applications that work properly with a chip.

I work on a daily basis with a MICROLOKII Cardfile system, a train interface control system that is over 20 years old and the thing is that it does not need updated in its hardware because programs are properly developed for it, take the same idea that all programs should be properly coded and be threaded friendly and you can realize the AMD chips really are hidden gems, The concept is that an Application should be limited by a cpu and not vise versa.

I love though how your response was that I basically had a wall of text, that just screams to me that you are basically saying "ok here is a well worded and detailed response, Im just going to ignore its arguments because I dont want to read it or dont want to debate its contents"

I know very well that the 8350 is not a "real" 8-core (the term core defined by a false Intel standard). I said i don't want a 4 thread cpu (i5 at similar price), not that I want an 8 core. 5ghz is very easy because AMD binns like crazy. Haswell is not a good product either from my point of view. You sound a lot like an Intel and Nvidia fanboy to me. Let's not make this thread the third WW about AMD vs Others.
And please don't call it a faildoser. There is nothing about it that is a fail. It is designed for multithreaded software and crappy software programmers as well as the mobile market are to blame for the relatively lower performance. Single threaded software is not going to exist in a couple of years besides Blizzard's games that are made to be playable on any conceivable platform.

Too expensive, don't want 4 threads, want to support AMD, want to get 5ghz or higher overclocks, don't like Intel's strategy burrying desktop cpus in favor of mobile. The only reason that i would now go for Intel would be a passively cooled low power Xeon for a home server-NAS build. Also i think gaming is going to be better on AMD because of the consoles and multithreaded software is the future.
