Kind of, but Satellite uses Radio Frequencies, not laser beams. Also Satellite has to travel into space and back, which is the reason why it has such high pings.

A Fixed high gain direct beam radio wave would likely be even better than laser, since weather wouldn't affect it nearly as much. No refraction in fog, clouds, rain, etc.

Yeah... except he runs a farm... You can't exactly plop a farm down into downtown "Cityville" or whatever the closest town is. By it's very nature, he must be in rural areas.

You'd also be surprised at the amount of high tech and automation being adopted by farmers. Most farmers computerize their setup to at least a minor degree these days. Many are adopting much higher tech as well.

For $40 grand, that's not bad. Also, they said he gets a $6 grand credit every time another user signs up on the connection he paid for.

    Considering the costs:
    1. Cost of ~3 to 4.5 miles of Fibre
    2. Cost of construction equipment - even via rental or lease
    3. Cost of construction material - Weather proof Conduit, fibre notes/transceivers, etc
    4. Cost of labour - somebody has to dig those holes

    That's not bad for $40,000.

Well, yah, that is how business works.  Company A says price A, company B says price B.  You choose based on which deal you feel is better.  Just because A is 10x B, doesn't mean anything.  That is like saying that you went looking at cars, and the Ferrari was 200k, while the Honda was only 20k.  Yah the Ferrari is 10x the price, but that doesn't mean it is a total scam (nor does it make it better just for costing more).  I am sure he could have found a company that would do the work for a million dollars, doesn't mean anything.  He got multiple quotes, and some were much higher than others, that is standard contracting work.

You do realize that "ripping" (A.K.A. using a converter tool or website to download a copy of) a song from YouTube is straight up illegal, and is piracy. Right? It's literally exactly the same as if you downloaded that same CD off of a torrent.

Whether you feel that piracy is right or wrong is a totally different discussion, but make no mistake - converting YouTube music videos into MP3's is piracy and is illegal.

    Please, use your brain.

Watching the video itself isn't illegal. Converting it into an MP3 and downloading said MP3 is illegal. He's not high at all. But you seem to not understand what he's talking about. Or how the converter programs actually work.

Copying an MP3 in any form is illegal, with only a few exceptions. ( Such as the initial legal download, and any legal devices you are allowed to store it on via the license agreement - eg: buying a song on iTunes and loading it onto your iPhone is still legal).

I agree. The title is sensationalist clickbait.

iTunes isn't illegal now. However, under UK Law, using the "Rip CD" function now is illegal. Whether you ripped the CD with iTunes, or Lame MP3 ripper, or any other method.

Because the world isn't a charity. While you can make the argument of physical=lost sale and digital=infinite potential for sales, the attitude regardless is why buy when you can steal.

Thank you so much for the help. I actually researched this last night before I went to bed but forgot to post it on the forum. I'm going to stick with the stock LG ROM and then maybe flash it to CM12.1 to give it a try.

If thats what it takes for MS to say "go ahead, break your game", I can't say I'm mad. Never truly understood sex mods on the same level that I understood other mods. If I wanted to watch pixels get it on...we have Triple A, studio funded porn already for that

I don't think kinect was ever targeted at "gamers" tbh i always saw it as a family/kid thing and in saying that i think it still has a place, if you look at the games that use kinect it will show you what i mean. Microsoft trying to be more family and kid friendly isn't a bad thing it's just widening there customer base, why does everyone on here only see things useful if it's only applicable to them .

I disagree. The kinnect is not dead...it is just becoming an optional accessory. People either use their kinnect (like myself) or don't at all. Personally I would buy one to go with my console simply for the voice commands. I'm looking forward to Cortana coming.

    Heyyo,

Yeah if they dropped the price on that LG G3? That's a very damn easy sell. Great camera, good screen and still a strong SoC package go boot. The speaker is a decent loud speaker on the rear and the SnapDragon 801 does struggle a little on that QHD screen on games with lots of 3D models but meh, I bet only games poorly optimized might have issues like World of Tanks Blitz. That game didn't like my HTC One M7... then again, it was a 1080P screen with a SnapDragon 600 lol so I don't know how comparable that is to a SD801 and 2K resolution.

Root got a reaction from don_svetlio in Laptop experience
I only had two laptops so far in my lifetime. One was a Gateway (back in 2009) and an Acer (2010). Both were similarly cheap, about $400-500 CAD at the time, and pieces of crap. The Gateway laptop's screen randomly broke one day, wouldn't display anything and no one did any damage to it (not even a tab that would effect it). The Acer laptop broke after a couple months. The WiFi board stopped working and both USB ports broke, don't know how it broke but woke up the next day and it was broken.

Those were cheap laptops though. I'm buying Acer VN7-791G-77HR (~$1,400 CAD), unless I find something better, for college either next month or in August. So, I'm hoping that my bad laptop experiences don't come and haunt me.

Oh, I thought all new OnePlus Ones come with OxygenOS, guess I was wrong. I wish I could get the OneTouch Idol 3 but can't find any place that ships/sells to Canada (importing, even from the US, will cost more. Plus conversion fees).

I'm definitely going to check NCIX's return policy on smartphones as I'll be buying my laptop for college from there as well (hence why I would be buying the Zenfone 2 from NCIX). I liked the HTC One M8's camera, however, I've only used 4 smartphones with good/decent cameras (iPhone 4, 4S, 5C, and HTC One M8). The speakers position isn't an issue for me on the OnePlus One as I'm used to the iPhone speaker position.

I think my decision will come when I buy my laptop, next month. If I can get an invite, and if the pricing is similar to the Zenfone 2/OnePlus One, I might get the OnePlus Two if it releases next month.

Thank you for your help. You've given me more information and a lot more to think of.

After reading this thread i think Linus needs to do some sort of "As fast as possible" style video for Geo-Blocking and the reasons why it exist and why it is both good and bad.

Its something that everyone should understand, especially because i know Linus has spoken about piracy and its affect on both content makers and content distributors.

Thats the thing tho.If it was available at a higher cost people would simply pay cause its easier then piracy and using a vpn. Since it isn't even available piracy runs rampant. People don't want to sit at their tv at a certain time to watch a specific show anymore. They need to charge what they feel is necessary instead of region locking. The people who were gonna pirate are still going to pirate. The people that were paying are likely to pay more for more content.

Bell doesn't like VPN's because their caching servers are useless with encrypted data going to and from a VPN, while regular domestic data is easy to cache and frees up congestion.

That's what this is really about, Bell could care less about People streaming foreign content. It's nothing but a red herring to distract people from what they are really afraid of.

(and no, I don't use a VPN currently, so I'm not trying to justify it)

It's not that. It's that Bill Gates was apart of the project that turns human waste into electricity, ashes, and clean water. But, it's small enough and cheap enough to put it in Africa that can't afford huge plants that we have.
