I thought we debunked his myth ages ago.  How hard something is to drive is an equation that includes both the resistance and sensitivity of the headphone, and is something that can only be really tested by actually plugging in your headphones and finding out yourself, since headphone companies don't always supply the same measurement of sensitivity.

For speaker amps, just find a receiver that tells you what they rated the power output at.  Even cheap SMSL mini-amps tell you that it's like 50wpc at 4ohm and 20wpc at 8ohm, etc.

Every time I look at the spec sheet of the LCD-X, I cannot help but just drop my jaw at the 600+ grams.  How do people even wear it for more than 10 minutes?

If any of those could "fix" your non-existent problem, they would have been recommended to you.

The best way to fix your "problem" is to get better or different headphones.  If you don't have the money for it...well too bad, things in life cost money.

I believe putting the source volume at anything less than 100% for distortion reasons is only for onboard, since you can't isolate a line-out from onboard.  When it comes to a unit with a DAC built in to it, distortion at 100% Windows volume is a non-issue.  Anything less than 100%, you're going to be cutting bit-depth.

So you're disappointed but you refuse to try something else.  What do you want us to do about it?

I've been keeping tabs on the Bifrost as well, and honestly the multibit is more interesting in concept than practice. Even people who claim to hear differences report that the 4490 trades blows with it.

Only get them seperate if you ever plan on using batteries with your O2, since the combo stuffs the ODAC into the space the battery terminals are.

If you wear it longer than the California-recommended 1hour listening time, the headband will force your scalp to progress with hair loss. So it is highly advised by the California Safety Board to adhere to the standards of such warnings when you receive them.

    X-Fi Crystalizer Restores Lost Details
Recover lost audio detail with X-Fi Crystalizer technology. This smart technology restores the audio detail that is lost in compressed audio files so you'll regain vibrancy and clarity in your games, music, and movies. Highs and lows that were lost are enhanced, so whether you're listening to cymbal crashes or wailing guitars, you'll hear the sound as it was meant to be heard.

Cause apparently you can recover data that doesn't exist *slow clap*

Onboard is just fine. Don't know why this particular statement is making the rounds.  As long as it has no audible noise floor and no crackling, it's fine.

Don't listen to this guy.  None of the headphones mentioned need any kind of amp to drive them.  All of those cans are alright for sub-$100.  Check out the audio forums recommendations thread, maybe you'll find some more options sub-$100 that you'd like.
