XenosTech reacted to mr moose in Apple accused of selling user data
The list they present is direct from a data seller, pertains almost solely to apple products and services. There are only three ways I can think for this to be the case:
1. the evidence is all manufactured
2. the evidence is true, but apple did not specifically sell it themselves and only made the data available through app developers (either by allowing it or failing to prevent it physically).
3. Apple sold the data themselves.
Given one of apples biggest draw cards is that your data does not get sold, this is an issue for them regardless of 2 or 3. And only a very slim chance number 1 is true.
I know, I've also tried explaining that all companies are the same and no one should explicitly trust one over any other. But alas some people just can't help themselves.

XenosTech reacted to Taf the Ghost in AMD Computex live stream
Well, Rome is an actual monster, so it might be worth at least seeing the early part of it.

Kinda still up my alley since I work in the server space too

Do I force myself to stay awake and be sleepy for the first day of work or do I be a good boy and got to bed at a decent time

Hmmm, found Lisa Su's forum account? Own are Tarids? Stole the AMD brief case? Clairvoyance powers?

XenosTech reacted to mr moose in Huawei to find alternative to play store
All the crap with politics and spying aside, this highlights the monopoly google has over smart phones if a company can't sell a phone without them.
Remember all that shit in the apple thread about ios and monopolies. This is the same thing. Google refuses to allow them access to the play store and all of a sudden it is significantly harder to sell your product.
Time will tell if they can or cannot produce an alternative to the play store, my guess is likely not seeing as MS couldn't compete in the same market.
As far as I am concerned the whole industry needs a shake up.

The real question is what are the out of the box thermals

XenosTech got a reaction from Bouzoo in Huawei phones outside of China to lose Google Play services/Android Updates (Worldwide except China)
Hardly any American is going to see it that way because "national security."

XenosTech reacted to Trixanity in Huawei phones outside of China to lose Google Play services/Android Updates (Worldwide except China)
When you really think of it though... The hypocrisy is immense.
"Huawei is bad because China can exert control" meanwhile the US exerts control over Google to force them to cut ties with a key partner.
Huawei moved 60 million units in Q1. They're the second largest phone manufacturer. This is huge in Android land.

XenosTech reacted to mr moose in HP Enterprise to Acquire Cray Inc for $1.3B
I would say it's mutual, AMD having a product/policy that is worthy of a partnership and can be leveraged at this level of market is powerful for all parties involved.
-
XenosTech reacted to leadeater in HP Enterprise to Acquire Cray Inc for $1.3B
Oh wow so HPE absorbed SGI and now set to do the same to Cray, very interesting.
HPE already had there own partnership with AMD, from what I know that was going rather well. HPE was also I think doing some big research around Gen-Z, maybe that has something to do with acquiring Cray.
1.3b is hardly anything for a company buyout in the tech sector, go look up the Dell purchase of EMC if you want your eyes to water lol.

XenosTech reacted to leadeater in Samsung announces 3nm MBCFET
That doesn't matter, older nodes were far cheaper. Die area means extremely little as most of the cost is in R&D recovery and all the other overheads like operating costs and capital expansion projects. The actual dies are not materially worth much at all and is actually mostly inconsequential to the final product cost.

XenosTech reacted to Dylanc1500 in Samsung announces 3nm MBCFET
Hey, if we aren't using the whole wafer for the die we are doing something wrong.
-
XenosTech reacted to dalekphalm in Samsung announces 3nm MBCFET
Yes, some can be squeezed out - often at the expense of OC headroom. But node shrinks allow more headroom for more cores, and higher frequencies, due to lower power consumption and better heat dissipation (comes with lower power consumption).
Node shrinks, just like arch refreshes, work in tandem with one another. One, by itself, cannot solve all the problems. Nor can the other. Each one can slowly chip away at the problems, making for a better CPU.
Do you seriously want us to be stuck at 32nm?
We literally ran into a GPU wall because of GPU's being stuck on 28 nm for 3 generations worth of GPU's, with incredibly minor improvements between each generation (due to TSMC cancelling their 22nm node - so NVIDIA and AMD had to wait for 16/14nm).

XenosTech got a reaction from Technous285 in Supreme Court Allows Anti-Trust Lawsuit Against the App Store
So by your logic, Microsoft and Google should lock down their operating systems the same way then. Normies hardly tinker with stuff and the ones that do go into it knowing that there's a risk associated with doing such hence why we're considered niche cause we started as normies before we got to the point where we are. So Apple allowing me the user to side load apps or allowing third party stores doesn't reduce security. If you're supposed to be a person who works in security as you claim then you should already know the human element is the biggest security risk even if they don't allow it people jailbreak the iphone to do what the want either way.

And Apple will just blame the consumer as they always did with every hardware defect
