Was there a specific reason you guys decided to use what looks like automotive antifreeze (ethylene glycol) for the loop over something less toxic? I made a bet with myself that you guys would go with a propylene glycol solution, and was bummed to see otherwise. PG is FDA approved as a food additive and freezing agent, plus it is widely available as RV antifreeze as a pink liquid (the color is the real selling point here ).

Just please be careful when you are moving and have to drain the loop. EG tastes sweet to animals and is quite lethal to them in fairly low concentrations. If you are going to save the fluid (if it is not dirty), no problem. However, if you need to toss it, be sure to bring it to a hazardous material disposal site or auto maintenance facility to keep it out of the storm drains

    Fun video, thanks a lot!

This is so freaking cool. I mean, it's totaly overkill, a simple AC would fix all their heat problems, but yeah, I guess that wouldn't be as epic as this is. I love you guys, lol. And hurry up with part 4 please, I can't wait!

Ever wonder why PC builders build PC’s? What is their motivation to build? What sparked that interest both individually and as a community?

I may have the answer to some of those questions. I recently wrote a research paper for my writing class. My research question asked how the PC building ecosystem grew and continues to grow and what fuels this expansion into the unknown. The question was a good starting point to gather my ideas and research more about this silent community. Nevertheless, throughout my research, I came across a lot of interesting information that I would like to share.

There was some secondary research conducted using the internet and my school's library. But more importantly, administering the survey I made yielded the more critical information; primary research is what I needed to get done. The survey was posted both here (linustechtips) and /r/buildapc on Reddit. I used Google Forums to create the survey. 120 responses were received from both communities.

From what I gathered and analyzed, I believe that PC builders dedicate their time to building computers because it provides an enjoyable pastime to a final product that, in today’s world, is invaluable and can not only teach us things, but allow us to share our knowledge with others. For instance, connecting to the internet and partake in the world. The majority of my work pointed to enjoyment, hobbies, and expressing common interest with others. The important thing to realize is that community is supporting the individual and vice versa. Without the motivation for the individual builder, there would be no PC building community. And without the community and the support behind it, PC building would be a rarity. Furthermore, the desire to build better and stronger machines is always in play. The aspiration to build better, cheaper, and faster computers. We communicate with each other and talk to each other. This forum is a great example of this type of system. It works really well. As a LinusTechTips forum member, I feel right at home and that I could talk about anything computers to the community. I can also ask for help if I run into any technical troubles.

The purpose of doing this research was not only to spread the knowledge of the PC master race (it's a joke, calm down, and move on), but to find out more about the workings of the community and the builder as an individual. This assignment gave me a great excuse to survey the community. I have always wanted to bring together the PC building community and learn about them, and ultimately see how the individual affects the community. Here are the results of the survey organized neatly in tables. I did not include all the questions that were asked because some didn't have much relation to what needs to be said here. The four questions shown below are sufficient enough to summarize the survey results.

Microsoft product placement with CNN failed, where the commentators of teh US election event coverage were using the Surface Pro 3 as an iPad stand, or hidding their ipad behind it.

Bad luck Microsoft. Maybe they should tighten their deal, such as no other device allowed in the news room, and force them to use the device, and provide them training on how to use it. Just putting the device on the table will results in such failure, especially that you are asking non-tech savvy people to try and use a device they know nothing about, or how to use it.

    Hey people of LinusTechTips forums!

I was wondering if you could spend 5 minutes taking this short survey for my undergrad research.

My research question is as follows: "how the PC building ecosystem grew and continues to grow and what fuels this expansion into the unknown".

It would be great help if you took it!

    Thanks, and I appreciate it.

If there is anything wrong with the form, please let me know.

    Thanks again.

By the way, if any of you want me to take a survey, let me know. Ill be glad to help.

Edit: For the question: "If there is one thing that I can guarantee you for the future of PC fandom, what would it be?", I mean what would you really like to see in the future of PC building and its community? Answer it to the best of your ability. Thanks!
