You're right, I have been upset with companies that have "lied" to me in the past. However, they have all been PAID services. So, I guess I have to repeat myself, LinusTechTips is still free - TechQuickie is still free - CSF, guess what, still free - For chanel superfun they had to get a patreon page to support, because however much you think that it costs nothing to produce these videos, you're wrong, if a company comes to them and says "Hey we would like to sponsor this NEW content on a NEW chanel, but on the grounds it needs to be hosted exclusively on our platform" from a business standpoint thats one hell of an offer, again, are you going to man up and sponsor their content for everyone else to enjoy? I didn't think so.

As mentioned before it definitely depends on what exactly you're interested in doing. There are a lot of different concepts that all build on each other if you're interested in proper development. Learning a language is fine, but learning the underlying concepts is better IMHO. If you're interested in going into it fully I couldn't recommend a degree in IT, focussed on development, more. But in all honesty, most developers these days don't seem to have that and still do fine.
 
If you're looking for the complete package, I'd say to have a look on https://www.google.com/about/careers/students/guide-to-technical-development.html. It's intended for people trying to improve their technical skills for Google, but they include links for a lot of free course material.
 
Other than that, youtube is a great source of information, as well as Coursera, Udacity, and Udemy. Some of their stuff requires payment, but if I remember correctly, you can view the content for free. I may be mistaken though. There is also the aforementioned CodeAcademy. There is also Lynda.com, but you will definitely need to pay for that. As you get into development you can also have a look at http://www.codewars.com/ which is a site with real world challenges you can complete. They get quite tough, but they do improve your ability to problem solve.

No, not double the performance, double the ram. It is a pretty nice bump up in performance as well, but not double sadly.

I forgot about live photos *cough* gifs *cough* the 4K video recording is okay, but I've never been blown away with it because the phone doesn't have a 4K display, so you'd need to export it to your PC to be able to enjoy it in full, shaky, washed out glory.
the A9 is a pretty powerful chip, especially with 2GB of ram, double that of the A8 in the 6, so it may be worth it just for that improvement alone.

I would recommend the 6s 64gb. I'm upgrading from my 5 to that. Apple Pay, 3d touch, live photos, 4k video, bigger screen, etc.
