Like everyone, get me a GPU now, however this will only lessen their price by 30-50% as folk are still stuck at home and will still need computers and or new parts for a computer for professional reasons. However silicon isn't being made quick enough, so it will only lessen the blow by about 20%. Scalpers gonna scalp.

As far as Im concerned, we are at war or on a war footing.

As someone who works in a supermarket, i can say that some sub cats and specific lines are low or depleted. However the range of things that could happen on is eye-watering and understandable at the same time.

The worst case scenario would be some of the following; A suspension of cash and to operate cashless for a period of time to prevent infection of till workers, vegans and ethical warriors having their 'rights' ended as the factory used for their niche being made would be needed for the needs of the majority, limits on amounts per customer - meaning two of a specific line or from a specific category. Working in conjunction with people who work in other chains, the terminology and process may differ, however the end goal doesn't.

My mindset at the moment is of a war footing, not with another nation, but a virus and its pandemic. Im sure many other folk like me will be be prepared to do our part and feed the nation, we will mostly all pull together. Im sure that if there is panic, like Hong Kong and Singapore, it will last for a couple of weeks and then return to a close to normal. However, its Italy Im monitoring as it isn't going that way after 10 or so days of panic buying in some areas.

The UK is about 2 away i think form quarantine and full on Christmas on steroids if we play it wrong, so far, the government and most of the leadership across all the devolved administrations are doing their best and have a clear plan and unlike the past 3-4 years, are all playing together.

If most folk play it cool, and act calm the country will be okay. Churchill quote here... Bulldog Spirit and all that jazz.

    Quick backstory:

I currently work for a mixing/mastering company, and I master audio for a living. I've decided to start my own company, So I've needed to kit out 3 studios, aswell as getting another playback system for a live audio reference, no point in making music sound good on monitors or audiophile speakers, if it wont sound good up louder than what monitors and "audiophile" speakers can manage to muster. (no, I didn't pay for all this myself, thanks Barclays business loans!)

Hence, a pair of these babies: (Had to order them over the phone, which is absolutely the worst way to buy something. Fuck telesales)

Martin Audio MLA Mini, and MSX subwoofer/power amplifiers.

So, now I can achieve 142dB peaks, which is way more than anything will likely be listened to at.

Martin Audio is also the same company that provides all the audio at Glastonbury festival, little fun fact.

Also, a bunch of recording, mixing etc. playback gear:

I've only got 1 subwoofer per studio right now, I might choose to upgrade to two per room if I feel like they aren't filling the bass out quite enough, or are distorting etc.

Yes, I know each studio has different monitors, and the Focals are technically two speakers in once. Very interesting product. Reason for having different speakers is to make sure the audio scales across different audio devices well. No point in making audio sound great on one pair of speakers, but complete crap on another pair.

Also, a Crown power amplifier for hopefully a pair of ATC's I'm getting used off Ebay for a great price, if I can get the deal sorted, if not I'm most likely gonna grab a passive pair of PMC monitors.

Fuck me. Surprised I still have a girlfriend...

ESPImperium got a reaction from RollTime in Intel Desktop launch is exactly as we thought
Im thinking about this launch and i think the i9 and i7 variants of the lineup, Im pretty sure that they could have done it better and kept hyper threading on the i7s with them being kept at 16 PCI lanes, however the i9s being given 8 more PCI lanes at 24? It wouldn't segment the HEDT line as well as all of them are 44 lanes.

This would have been better, having the i9s as a 8 core/16 thread, 24 PCI lane at 5Ghz chip, with a slight bump in TDP to maybe 110W? Then  have a 6 core/12 tread i7 line with 16 PCI lanes, then a i5 line with hyper threading disabled, and the the i3 range being a mix of quad cores with and without hyper threading as well, however their core speed would be significantly less than the i5s, maybe 800mhz less?

Im sure the product stack then would be a much better spread and gives much more than it does at present. Its something that i feel AMD have got their product stack pretty much down and have a much better and easier to follow spec sheet. Dare i say, AMD have stolen a march and are ahead of Intel for probably the first time since maybe 2004-2010 as i remember AMD had better CPUs back then as i had PCs with AMD chips in them then before Intel came out with the 930 i rocked for about 6 years from 2010.

I was just going to post this as it looks as if I'm gonna have to get a CCTV system soon if my neighbour gets an extension that will leave my property venerable in the future. Something that would dovetail into my post above as I'm probably gonna have to get one single camera that is compatible with a Synology DiscStation NAS.

Especially if the outlay is costly, you don't have the £350 a year to a monitoring company to do a yearly check and have someone sit there till an alarm goes off. The DIY/Monitor via app market is a huge one out there.

Linus, I think you should branch out into another DIY space. Home security DIY specifically. This space is wide open, and good information out there is spartan. I'll admit it would be a big learning curve for you guys if you don't already have somebody that is knowledgeable about such things. However, security is a huge amount of content you could mine, and people willing to build their own computer seem like the type that would be interested! Maybe start by reviewing several different AIO Security Camera systems. It might actually have some merit for you there at the office as you pack in more and more valuable hardware as well.

I'm doing it at home and I have been researching for months and it has been an extremely tough slog. Just look to your own forums, (https://linustechtips.com/main/search/?type=all&q="home+security") people seem to be into it.
