k2711000 reacted to hassam222 in Gamers Nexus alleges LMG has insufficient ethics and integrity
The part where it is alleged LTT auctioned off a prototype water block they promised to return is troubling. That requires an official response.

k2711000 reacted to Coachdude in Welp I just bought a 6700k, what is a reasonable oc i should expect?
I run a 6700K @ 4.5GHz @ 1.255 volts in bios. I can do 4.6GHz @1.325 and 4.7GHz at around 1.35 but I am very thermally limited with this Hyper 212 Evo cooler so I dial it back to 4.5GHz for 24/7 use. Whilst I don't think it was a very worthwhile upgrade going from a locked variant of essentially the same processor, if you manage to sell the old one then I don't think it was too bad a buy. Mine overclocked to 4.5GHz is faster than an i5 8400 in the majority of benchmarks and tests and is only slightly slower than the i5 8600K. Of course if you have the cooling for it you should be able to hit around 4.7-4.8 on the high end, and you will be about the same performance as a stock or slightly overclocked 8600K in multi threaded workloads and slightly faster in single threaded tasks. Anyways, I hope you enjoy getting the most out of your new processor when it arrives. =)

At the end you will be a master and a better Skylake overlocker than the majority of this forum. It takes like 30 minutes max to read and fully understand so steel yourself!

Can you put a camera in the server room so you can record what happens when the ghetto mounted watercooled server leaks and destroys the $20,000 Petabyte storage server?

k2711000 reacted to reapzzer in Would putting an RX470 and RX480?
It's impossible to crossfire/SLI different GPUs. They can be different manufacturers but they have to be same chips.
Edit. Well it seems you can crossfire RX 470 and RX 480 together.

k2711000 reacted to aisle9 in Buying an used i7 920? worth it?
YES.
The i7-920 isn't spectacular, but an X58 motherboard at that price is an AMAZING deal. Even if you don't want to keep the i7-920 (which is still a serviceable PC, just not top-tier anymore), the motherboard could sell for as high as $200 US if your market has the same stupid demand for X58 boards that the US does. Probably more like $150 US, but it really depends on the board.
I'd absolutely make that deal. Use the 920 for a little while, and if it doesn't work out, sell the whole setup for well over twice what you paid for it and buy yourself a nice Haswell board and i5 with the profit.

People need to calm down with the hype, because once reality hits it could potentially get nasty.
Wait for the bloody benchmarks. It's less than a week to go.

k2711000 reacted to Drak3 in PCIe 4.0 worth waiting for?
PCIe 2.0's bandwidth is just starting to be a bottleneck on the consumer side, and only for absolute top end graphics cards like the Titan XP. But the only systems running PCIe 2.0 to graphics are likely running chips that have been bottlenecking anyways.
With the slow rate of increasing PCIe bandwidth requirements, when PCIe 4.0 comes out, it's big benefit won't be higher overall bandwidth. It'll be the capability to run devices with fewer lanes without bottlenecking, potentially allowing more PCIe devices to be used (if we still have the same # of lanes).

k2711000 reacted to Oshino Shinobu in Which is better Asrock Or Msi Motherboards?
Neither is better. Like most PC components, you have to compare based on a product to product basis. Both MSI and ASRock have great boards and some shoddy boards.

Yeah, the Asetek pumps only basically have static and some stupid temperature option that no one really gives a shit about lol.
Kind of ridiculous how they made it
so limited, idk what was going through their heads.

k2711000 reacted to pyrojoe34 in Can I control the lighting effect of the H100i V2 through Corsair Link?
It depends on the OEM manufacturer that makes the cooler. The Asetek made ones can't do it. The older CoolIT made ones could so it IIRC.

Haha, good luck, hopefully it works out! I'm hoping too cause I have the same type of model
-
k2711000 reacted to Omie in The Software Half of a PC Build
I don't think you can. The h100i v2 is an Asetek pump and the firmware for those are limited compared to the older CoolIt pumps (the GT models). I believe on those models you can change the LED modes, but I'm not 100% sure. I don't think there is a way to change the LED modes on the H100i V2 or GTX series ones.
