My friend bought 2 1060s...

Dunkan77

Hello guys,

So my friend bought 2 1060 GPU's... not only you can't SLI them but they're different frame buffer size too... What can he do with the one he won't be using?

Yeah he got the second one as a present that is well... 3 months late (xmas). I feel for him you know... having 2 GPU's and not being able to SLI or anything, :( it has to suck real bad

If he can't sell it, maybe use the second one for folding?

Does Hairworks use PhysX? He could turn one into PhysX device right?

He should have made a better research before buying, for the cost of this two 1060 he could have just got a 1070 with better performance and less headaches, there is new ways to use multi GPU with dx12 but I think no game but Ashes of singularity even supports it yet, and unless he is going to play hell lot of Batman there wont be enough performance gain using one solely for PhysX.

Best thing he can do in my opinion is pick the one he likes less and try to sell it, or even try to sell both, the rx580 is coming and seems to be on the 1070 level while probably is going to be cheaper and freesync is really cool.

Wow thats unfortunate...

Maybe sell one over Ebay and use the spare money to upgrade a different component?

It actually would most likely work, but its definitley not worth it. I tried that with a my GTX 1060 6GB and a spare GTX 750 TI as a PhysX card but I got even lower framerates in some games than before...

Keep the 6GB version and sell the 3GB version. They both have slightly different GPUs as well, the 6GB being the faster of the two.
