Lurick reacted to jaslion in I bought my cheap gaming router question
Its literally jist marketing to make you pay more.
Its not like a regular router is suddenly gonna suck for gaming.
20 devices is easy enough for almost anything.

Ah yes, touching grass is the solution to all life's problems.
Wrongly banned in a game that causes issues on the main platform outside just that game? Just touch grass!!
Run out of milk? Go outside and touch grass!! Milk appears
Car broken down and girlfriend left you? Touch grass and all is well 😛
This isn't limited to just the game(s) in question, devs (from what I'm reading) are giving out beta keys and then auto banning people right away causing issues elsewhere on Steam since they're now flagged as "cheaters" in one game from a ban where they have no playtime.

I can guarantee you pretty much any router is capable of handling more than 20 devices and works for gaming.

Just use one router. There is 0 reason to separate this into two subnets.
Only use 1 router, plug everything into it, and use switches where required if you need more ports for more devices.

Lurick reacted to Revadike in Malicious devs falsely banning users on Steam
Steam provides developers tools to lend Valve's anticheat service in their games, called Game Bans. They appear on user's profiles. Once enabled for the publisher API key, you can ban any user that owns the game with a simple HTTP request.
While Valve disallows the use of this API for any non-cheating purposes, it hasn't stopped malicious devs from abusing this to attack, suppress, or potentially even racially discriminate their own customerbase. These Game Bans are shown on Steam profiles and will permanently mark users as cheaters, destroying their reputations, which is their nefarious goal. They know they can get away with it, as they have been able to do this unpunished, for years now.
The victims can't retaliate, as Valve has a policy to simply not help and ignore banned users. They redirect victims to their abusers, which is obviously not going to do anything. There have been many attempts to make Valve aware of this problem and have them do something about it, but they do not seem to care.
What do you think of this?

Lurick reacted to Needfuldoer in What does 60 percent cpu usage mean in task manager?
It means 60% of your processor's total processing capacity is in use. The workload isn't necessarily on one core/thread, or evenly distributed across all the cores/threads.

There's no reason to overcomplicate the setup like that unless you're running 10 gig Ethernet between your PCs and the file server. Just run everything on one subnet.
If you really insist, set up a completely separate network just for file sharing and use a different address space. (For example, 192.168.2.x/24 instead of 192.168.1.x/24.) Then connect to the file shares by those addresses instead of the "regular" ones.

Backup your irreplaceable data and just send it and see what happens. Thats what I do anyway.

Lurick reacted to Levent in Best free tool for motherboard diagnostics?
why are you downloading hwinfo from shitty leech websites like that?
https://www.hwinfo.com/download/
hwinfo is a monitoring tool. It wont tell you if your board has any issues, it will display sensor data. Finding issues is the technicians (in this instance, you) job.

The question is indeed did you click the unsubscribe link and still receive them? Because it's all standard, only if they don't respect your requests to shut up would it become shady.

Don't use those, they're absolutely useless.
Bottlenecks are always present, and they change from one application to another (also, they are way less of a problem than you might think)

Paywalling is entirely the choice of the content creator, as others have said. Some creators require a paid subscription to their channel to access certain videos, just like how this one video requires Premium.

LGA sockets put a ton of force on the CPU to ensure proper contact. If the CPU is properly installed, which yours appears to be, it's fine.
(It made me very uncomfortable the first time too)

I don't see an issue with this, just another incentive for buying the subscription. Not missing out on much

Simple, feel nothing.
Not the only "Members Only" thing in the world, that's for sure.
Plus... not like it's something crucial to livelihood.
