Intel CPU install

Go to solution Solved by Average Nerd,

LGA sockets put a ton of force on the CPU to ensure proper contact. If the CPU is properly installed, which yours appears to be, it's fine.

(It made me very uncomfortable the first time too)

It's my first time installing an Intel CPU and when I pull the retention arm down it's marking the CPU and requiring a lot of force? Can someone advise me if what I'm doing is right. The triangles are aligned and it's in the right way.

I like to edit my posts a lot.

Make sure CPU sites correctly in socket, I would check for bent pins. Close the lid and make sure it sits correctly before closing the arm.

Looks fine to me.

You have to push down more than you think you should to get the lever to catch under the hook on the bottom right. That's just how Intel's LGA sockets have always been.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

same and that was on 775 that usually doesnt require that much force

after a bunch of inserting and reseating cpus ive gotten pretty used to it though and the only thing that has a feeling of needing a bunch of force is 1366 which it definitely does compared to the other sockets i have (775 115x fm1/2 am3+) and you can definitely feel it when you pull the lever to release the cpu
