What do I need to do in software to prepare for upgrade?

I am upgrading CPU, mobo, GPU, ram. Wondering if I need to do anything with windows, drivers, etc. before breaking down my PC and upgrading it. I will be keeping my storage drives the same.

 

Currently have:

R7 2700X

B450 MSI Gaming Pro

EVGA RTX 2070 Super

 

Upgrading to:

R5 7600X

B650 MSI Tomahawk

ASUS RTX 4070 Super

Backup your irreplaceable data and just send it and see what happens. Thats what I do anyway.

Usually good idea to uninstall your gpu drivers.

 

I've heard that causes lots issues.

I'm jank tinkerer if it works then it works.

Since you mention multiple drives:

Backup your critical data on everything other than your boot drive, and make a fresh, clean install on it.

It will take time and can be a bit of a hassle, but you'll be saving yourself headaches on the long term.
