Did you recently download the Valorant beta by any chance? If you did, it's their Riot Vanguard causing issues with a lot of programs such as rgb software and monitoring tools. Try disabling it or in my case I had to completely delete it from my drive for my programs to work as intended.
If you're sure it's the windows update causing problems, revert back to an older version and see if that helps.

It is a valid point though, firewire on the Mac did and has lead to exploits when having physical access to the computer (because firewire had DMA and the system passwords were able to pulled from RAM) and does highlight the fact that it can be things to sometimes consider.

It is hard to patch exploits that are a result of a hardware specification (or there are penalties involved in that).  Similar concepts to meltdown/spectre

Oh hear me out, this is what you can do. Get a lenovo yoga 730. 15 inch latoptop, 16gb of ram, an i5 or an i7. Get it with a 512gb ssd.

Next, youll get a wifi card compatible with macos, which some of you might see where i am going with this. The reason why I am recommending it is because I have done it myself and it is good. You will split the ssd into 3 partitions, as followed:
    - 128GB NTFS or FAT32 for Windows Boot
    - 128GB for an OS which I will not name which is possibly made by apple computer inc.
    - 256GB for files which you will use between the two systems.

The reason why I am recommending the yoga 730 is because it has great support for unnamed operating system from apple. Lots of people use it and it has great compatability. If you only want to use unnamed OS from apple, it will work great. If you think this might be a good idea and you get the laptop, you can DM me and I can help you get all setup.

the only thing is that the royale is supposedly $1320, which is quite a bit more than the escobar. also, royale's website disappeared just a few days ago

That will be a nice solid performer for the price, and ready to jump up in performance later with simple upgrades. I would run it just as it is (along with your added storage) until you need more performance and know where you want to upgrade.

You can install all of the tools that are used in Kali and Parrot on Ubuntu just fine. Or you could just dual boot whatever flavor you want to use for daily use and the one you want to use for pentesting. I get why you wouldn't like Kali linux, but as long as you don't use it as your daily driver, there shouldn't be any problems with it. For programming you can use any distro, as there is practically no difference in programming on different flavors, except that you will use different commands for installing languages and programs. I personally use Ubuntu with an i3 derivative as my DE, and it works well for both programming and pentesting.

Hey all! As my first semester of School is coming to an end, I have realized that I no longer need the Windows-Only utilities which are on my computer, and I can finally move back to linux. I have used Backbox before, but I was also looking at ParrotOS. Note: I will not be accepting Kali Linux as an answer as it is hot doodoo and I am not even touching that even with a 100 foot pole. Anyways, any recommendations?
