Yea, but it's not just about temps with that. It's that if you mount the fans facing down at the top, you're creating turbulence, bringing any dust that settles at the top down into the case and not doing anything to help your airflow which will cause dust to build in certain areas at the end of the day. You want your airflow to stick to it's direction. Intakes in the front, output on the top and back of the case.

up to you if you want to save up to get 16GBs of RAM, 8GBs is probably fine

There was a news story that I came across on youtube a while back.  Basically, the news reporter went undercover with a "broken" PC.  All they did was disconnect the Sata cable for the boot drive.  They took it around to various mom and pop repair shops and all of them found the issue no problem.  And then they took it to geek squad........well, needless to say they couldn't find the problem, then offered overprice services such as virus removal and data recovery/back up. So yeah, geek squad has a less than stellar reputation for good reason.  I forget where this took place, or the news channel that covered it (a local affiliate i'm sure) but i'm sure you can find it somewhere on youtube

But in reality, people like him needs to learn not everything ages like fine wine and a majority of items lose value over time, and with that set-up, I'd say $750 would be a fair trade.

Do not buy a GTX 1030.... save the money on that expense, get a Pentium G4600 (better IGPU) and use that for a display adapter until you can afford a proper GPU. Use the rest of the money to upgrade to 8GB of RAM as 4 is really lackluster.

In this pricepoint, however, you should really be looking at the used market. buying new just isn't really in the cards if you want a good gaming experience for this amount of money.

I can't advise on a per game basis you will have to google specifically. It can either be CPU or in the game's files (not all files are accessible via settings), hence why Mass Effect requires a file edit.

EDIT: Only 40FPS in Skyrim at 60% usage suggests CPU bottleneck. What is your CPU?

I own these.  They're comfortable, and the sound is decent. However, if your looking for true dolby 7.1 surround,  there are better headsets out there   The Cue software still kinda sucks, but its gotten better.  But overall, they're not terrible. I can wear them for hours without wanting to rip them off my head.  80 pounds (103 usd) seems a bit steep.  I'd try to find them on sale.

In my opinion, gaming at 1080p 120fps+ is a better overall experience than 1440p at ~60fps.  Its purely subjective.  Your system can handle both pretty well, so its just a matter of you finding what you like best at a good price.

Changed a few things.  That HDD was terrible, you want at least a 7200rpm drive.  Gave you a RX 560 which performs a tad better and ended up being cheaper than the one you had listed.  Changed the power supply to a little bit better quality one.  Its also semi-modular.  The case I left alone just because it left you closer to your budget than what i would've picked.  I would go with something like the Corsair 100R or the 88R. The case you chose has ugly cables and it didn't look like much room for cable management.

Why do you need 32GB of RAM and also why do you need a 960 pro?
And a 1080Ti doesn't need 850W unless you have SLI plans (which that board doesn't support)
Otherwise it's fine besides the uglyass cooler

You can also do that on a i7 7700k or rzyen. There are pcie lanes on the chipset aswell.

Also 16x vs 8x doesn't make a difference for gpus'

Lanes won't be a problem, a 1151 will have more than enough lanes for your

z170 has 20 lanes and the cpu has anouther 16, more than enough for almost any gaming rig.

Right off the bat, I'll tell you this: from strictly a gaming perspective, NVMe isn't going to offer you that much of advantage in gaming performance over a SATA connected SSD.  Even in day to day average use, you won't see much of difference.  If you have plenty of room in your budget for it, then i would say go for it.  but don't sacrifice something else in your build just to have that drive.

I understand that you've had issues with AMD CPUs in the past but I can tell you that Intel is nothing extraordinary. I had both AMD and Intel CPUs and the brand is not what you should judge your purchase on, but rather a balance of value for your money and performance in your use scenario as well as longevity for the future.

In the mid-ranged segment, the R5 1600 is the best CPU factoring all those above.
