And no offense to Linus, he's completely entitled to his personal opinion on the topic, however--
I think what he said in the WAN show about it was really short sighted. In light of all of the shootings that happened in schools.. Put yourself in the position of a school teacher at this point. Your job is not only to instruct your class, but you're also RESPONSIBLE for the safety of your students.
It's easy to say that they were stupid AFTER the facts of what was actually in the 'pencil box briefcase', but in a "take no chances situation" you're supposed to report suspicious things anytime you see them or get tipped. That's part of your JOB.
What if that had been a bomb? What if somehow there was an explosive that was hard to detect inside that brief case, and it harmed or killed some students? What would you say to their parents? The case looked harmless?!
In my opinion, they did their job and the situation could have been worse.

iPad pro? Same price point as Surface 3 which has a quad-core Atom processor running a full desktop operating system with support for native desktop applications...

    EXCEPT:

iPad keyboard costs $170 and is NOT backlit, no trackpad.
Surface 3 and Pro 3 keyboards cost $130 but come backlit and with a trackpad.

Surface Pen = $50, comes free with Pro version.
    Apple "pencil" = $100

Surface can natively run full Photoshop applications, and even install custom brushes and plugins anywhere on the internet.
iPad Pro can only run a locked-down version of Photoshop and cannot use custom files and plugins.

iPad is locked down to the App Store collection of small applications
Surface 3 and Pro 3 have a plethora of old and new desktop applications that will work and is much more power-user friendly.

EVEN SOMETHING SMALL LIKE WATCHING VIDEOS. iPad will need all videos that aren't in an iOS recognized format must be converted which takes too much time and energy.
Whereas you can install VLC on the Surface and go.

    I don't think there's even a USB port. NEED I SAY MORE?

Continuity: The Surface 3/3 Pro can run programs dating back to Windows 95
Superior touch optimised OS: Windows 8.1/10 are optimised for touchscreens and can install any program.
Higher Resolution screen: As you said that doesn't really matter, higher resolutions are better suited to larger screens.
Stylus: The stylus quite simply allows you to use it in place of your fingers-preventing dirty screens
Other: You really haven't listed that many at all, and they actually translate straight to the Surface
Also, the Surface isn't locked to the App store, it can fit a full sized USB and you can easily move any files to and from it without OSX and iTunes. Oh and its still x86.

Oh dear (this is turning into a joke now), zMeul, you just linked a video you didn't watch? (Your thread opening, PCPer video)
Or you simply lack the ability to fucking UNDERSTAND. That's what you're showing off here constantly. You understand nothing and you're just deaf and blind at the same fucking time.
Look. The R9 Nano has 2 limits.
Thermal limit, which is set at 85°C (which is set in BIOS and can't be changed)
or power limit, which is set at 175W (which can be tweaked with CCC by changing the power limit)
Now depending on how the GPU workload actually is, for example not using all units for whatever reason, they can work faster (means higher clock speed), as long as it doesn't reach 175W.
Furmark is a well known benchmark that is THE expert of creating a GPU workload that just uses everything a chip has, using everything means they have to be slower be in the 175W range.
Some games will run with higher speed and some with lower, depending on how the GPU has to work.
Now if the card reaches 85°C, regardless of any W, it will throttle, the cooler can't deal with higher than 85°C. This case is NOWHERE to be seen with every test we saw.
    I'm done with you.

    Now for everything else:
As for the price. It could cost 800 freaking dollars and it would be still ok. You know why guys? As long as AMD can't deliver a reasonable amount of graphicscards and as long as it's sold out because of that, there is no fucking reason, to set this card at a lower price.
As for why it's more expensive than lets say a Fury X is the exclusivity, if you don't want this exlusivity (which is the size), you can buy pretty much any other card that deliver you a better price/performance, because the Nano is simply NOT FOR YOU IN THIS CASE BUT YOU DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND.
God... I can't comprehend on how much ppl fail to THINK.

    And regarding coil whine:
Not all reviews show off coil whine (also some are ok-ish and some are absolutely brutal (hearing at HardwareCanucks' sample literally makes my blood boil, lol)). Some coil whine goes away after a few days of use. Some coil whine exist not solely because of the GPU and can be a problem with the whole system and PSU used combined. It's not entirely safe to say that the Nano is generally fine, but it's also not safe to say that it's a bust.

    I'm done now. Hopefully.

Yes there might be, but AFAIK you cannot actually manually go into the iOS filesystem and transfer your movies over to any random folder. iPads and iPhones have to use iTunes.

You can probably use a third party app to watch a movie over your NAS, but what about when you leave your house/network? There's problems here.

Basically more labor, less fruit. This is why for professionals and enthusiasts, the obvious route to actually make your life simpler is the one with the full desktop operating system... But I can't argue with Apple's consumer base's madness.

    It goes at 1.5 GHz
The pen of the iPad Pro is 100$, it is free for the Surface Pro 3, and the keyboard is cheaper. Assuming no specials and original MSRP at release.
You can get i5-4300U (1.9GHz to 2.9GHz with turbo boost) model for very close to the same price.

Yeah, it's pricey. It's pricey for a reason, get over it. The fact remains that it packs one hell of a punch - a punch Nvidia can't touch in anything that size. Give credit where credit is due - it's an impressive piece of hardware (aside from the coil whine/buzz) for what it is.

I think the pricing of the iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and Keyboard are so God-damned stupid. They're stepping far into Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3 pricing for something that (for all intents and purposes) runs a phone and tablet OS. Charging $799 for a tablet version of the new MacBook would make a fair amount of sense, but this new iPad is just simply overpriced.

This is quite possibly the most interesting thread I've read through on LTT in a LONG time.

I'm not an expert on the law by any means, but judging from the research others have done, and cross referencing them, I'm kind of surprised this hasn't been talked about more often.

Linus makes excellent videos, and I love his channel and have been following him on youtube for a LONG time, but he's gotten very popular to the point where he more often than not is starting to recieve very valuable "samples" in which he is allowed to keep, followed by videos that really do seem like an advertisement. Sometimes he doesn't say, "I am making this video because I received 6 FREE Titan X's from Nvidia..", but I think most of the time he says, "I asked this company for a review sample...". As far as I can tell, these are definitely not the same. What I can tell is, Linus does make an effort in some videos to do this step, but it doesn't really feel specific enough. I agree with the notion that in some way that --> Free samples that you keep = sponsored content, because they gave you something of value to make a video.

I agree with the OP in the means that I would like to get more SPECIFIC disclosure on why you really are making the video. Obviously, at the end of the day it's about money. Irrefutable. However, just like when we complain about politicians taking bribes to speak on a corporation's issues, we need to take the 'internet product showcase/review video industry' a little bit more seriously. We can't have internet video companies (who appear to their audience to be credible) taking essentially what are bribes like politicians do, to position themselves favorably to the respective company's position.

That's my take. Linus has obviously made a huge effort in increasing productivity, and with that, I understand when some things get overlooked. But it's gotten to the point (Especially with the 6 Titan X's) where it's starting to look pretty shady.

P.S. - I think the people who say, "if you don't like it, then don't watch it" are very backwards. Things aren't always black and white. Giving content providers feedback when they actually listen to you is one of the most important aspects of the relationship that the community should not take for granted. If all of us voice our opinion, and the opinion is shared amongst the majority of LTT users, then I guarantee you, it will be addressed.

Thanks! That was actually the third time I had to write it, because the reply functions on this forum are still  (hitting backspace by accident... *sigh*)

As for republican women voting for Trump: I think we should put in some more factors into this, such as party hard-line voters, that no matter what, they vote for the highest polling candidate party. Other than that, there are women out there, just like men, who probably agree with his stance on "PC" language, but his kind of language is still highly offensive to people. This will eventually hurt him down the line. I'm talking feminist attack ads. I'm talking people protesting in the streets if he gets named as the nominee. At that point, if the majority of Republican women still want him (minus the hard-liners) I'd be surprised.

Yeah the main thing killing Paul at the moment is lack of airtime. He was doing quite well late last year and early in the year, until Jeb Bush and Trump announced their candidacies. I'm hoping more candidates start dropping so that the ones that can realistically win will get more airtime. Even Ted Cruz hardly got to speak at the debate.

My preferred candidate would be Rand Paul, but he is sliding down in the polls as of late while Trump is still rising.

Honestly, Trump spells absolute trouble to me on the international scale. I don't think he will do well as a spokesperson/diplomat for the leading free-country of the world. He will definitely struggle against minority voters, because of his skills as an orator. He has extreme difficulties in sounding well-refined and calculated, as you notice in the debate. How many different ways did Trump say "I'm rich" before actually answering a question? He has no skill in avoiding offensive behavior or confrontations. You think any sensible woman, let alone, a majority of women will vote for Trump in 2016 after what he said about Rosy O' Donnell or Megyn Kelly? Or ANYTHING highly offensive he's said on social media/television about women? How about getting the minority votes? You think he appeals to black people? Mexicans?

I want Rand Paul to win because he represents the core values of the constitution. He's very conservative (not in the party sense) in his foreign policy; He believes we should stay out of conflict when conflict is avoidable, meanwhile defunding support for third world countries that obviously are very anti-American (like Pakistan for example). The only problem with him, is that on the debate floor, he doesn't sparkle in the spotlight like the other candidates like Ben Carson or Marco Rubio, and he seemed overly aggressive. But in all, his policies are pretty much in-line with the values of my generation.

But another candidate I would like to see win might just be Ben Carson. I feel like he's definitely the man that can reel-in in minority voters of America to the Republican Party for once. He's highly intelligent, and I believe he can definitely shine in a leading position. The only big negative I can see about him, is his lack of experience in foreign relations.

Third choice would probably be Marco Rubio. Then Jeb Bush, then Carly Fiorina.

Honestly, I like Trump. He's upfront about his opinions and he's not afraid of adversity. And I agree with him on most if not all issues. We need to secure our borders. Illegals have been coming over here for years, why do the children they give birth to here deserve birth-right citizenship? The 14th Amendment wasn't built to serve that purpose, it was built for the task of bringing the US out of slavery. I'll cue you into something though, the tech industry and the internet is full of liberals. You're not going to easily find someone who agrees with you.

Rand Paul, Rick Santorum, Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson also speak sense in multiple degrees to me, as does Jeb.

And if someone says that we can trust Hillary, get out. I won't hate on liberals, but for Christ's sake, her past is about as spotty as it can be. She stored classified documents in her home against the law and yet I'd bet that the law will go floppy on her.
