R9 380.... buy it over a 960, seriously.

Mikjul

AMD do not have driver problems, i can't say much for Nvidia, not owned a NV card since the G92 core.

I also have no idea why people consider this GPU AT ALL.

Minds will be blown by the price/performance of the R9 380.

You are also dealing with a 2GB capable GPU vs one with 4GB it can fully use, yes 960 comes with 4GB editions, but good luck pushing enough frames to use it.

Apples to Apples Vram choice below.

Also higher end models with nice coolers.

TPU have never done a R9 300 series Review, so they are not included, but the R9 380 is basically like a 7970/280x.

It's actually better than the 280X :D - has 4 more pipelines for A-sync compute (4 vs 8) and handles Tessellation worlds better.

280x pulls more frames. That's what matters.

Not always - when you have lots of tessellation it falls behind - 380 also supports Free-Sync, True Audio, Audio over HDMI, Texture Compression on par with Maxwell's - GCN 1.2 vs GCN 1.0 - simply a newer card :) - Also 180W TDP vs 250W TDP

Is this the AMD fanboy club house?

Anyway you also need to remember it draws 2x the power and puts out 2x the heat. Also the Nvidia card WILL have more overclocking potential.

At 1465mhz boost?

That pot must be strong.

ACTUALLY! - it's TDP is only 70W higher and power draw is only 38W higher - FACT!

Lol, overclocking potential doesn't mean a huge amount if you oc both cards, the 380 will still win.

Power + heat complaint is just stupid considering what does that even effect performance wise?

You won't be given 1550mhz on every card as well it's pure luck, but the 960 stock is incredibly high clocked... it has very little headroom.

I know a guy on the forums who has a 280X @ 1500 MHz stable on air - he's currently working on water - wonder how that will end - currently it's better than a 780 :D

You claimed one had more overclocking potential which is raising the boost clock..

I stuck up for NV Fermi in a different thread here... ask Don... i was having the conjecture/argument with him...

yup - not sure who won though - doesn't matter really - at least we had a sophisticated discussion ^_^

The fact that I think you are blowing it out of your ass, not even a 280 on single stage will do that, lmao.

280x still crushes, especially mine  :P

but honestly amd > nvidia in this round. the 960 loses to the r9 380 quite a lot of the time and more vram, same with the r9 390
