OSBK reacted to LinusTech in Linus tech tips "pirating" OCCT - answer from the dev [Reddit thread]
My response (copy pasted from reddit):

    Linus here.

First and foremost, I'm sorry for any upset we caused by using OCCT without paying for a professional license. I've gone ahead and picked up a pro license to cover our use. https://imgur.com/HlDn2Ic

The truth is I had no idea OCCT was a paid software. There is a donation prompt in the application, but otherwise no indication that I should have been using a paid version.
Ignorance doesn't excuse our sloppy approach to software licensing here, though. The simple fact is we pirated your software (which as some of you realize I never said we were perfect about, and in fact have pointed out times when my own ethics aren't bothered by it, but whatever) but hopefully our purchase of a paid license will allow us to put this behind us.

There are some other aspects of your post that I could probably type out a longer reply to - like the insinuation that (even if we wanted to) LTT could somehow destroy your OCCT business, or that we don't reply to outreach (I searched our public email and we only have two emails containing the characters OCCT, and neither of them are from you), and the fact that honestly I've got a little bit of whiplash right now from how abruptly this went from "thanks for the shout-out" to "I'm upset enough to write a novel on reddit about it".

Most devs recognize that our use of their software is closer to educational use than it is to commercial use and don't mind us using their software for free if we are demonstrating how to use it and showcasing it to potential customers on the channel. Based on this Twitter post, I assumed you felt the same way. I guess you don't.

But assumptions lead to disasters, and we absolutely should have reached out. Hopefully you can understand how the error occurred and we can put this behind us.

I recommend you start with Resurrection Remix, AOSP Extended, HavocOS or Paranoid Project, these usually have tons and tons of customization options and they do work well with other kernels too! so there is a high chance you'll have the double-tap to wake.

Again, it really depends on your exact device/model so XDA is where you wanna look!

I would actually recommend you only get 16GB of RAM, you rarely need 32GB! You can also save some money if you go for a 144hz monitor instead, pushing constant +240fps will require quite the GPU for modern titles (at least with respectable graphics settings).

For the GPU, just like @Mel0nMan recommended, a GTX980 or 980TI can be found for around 200-ish dollars and it'll do you wonders, if you can get a 1070/ti that'll be even better!

W series thinkpads have a numpad and are pretty similar in specs to the T series, so something like a W541 might be up your alley.

If its some permission issue you can try the bootable version of minitools partition software, another trick you can try is plugging the SSD as an external device if you have a sata to usb adapter, trying it on another computer is also an option. I don't believe SSDs or HDDs have a slider for read only mode.

If OTG isn't locked then the next issue you'll need to check is how much power you phone can supply (example when you charge another device through OTG) and for this one you'll have to test it I guess.
For ROOT, Android by default doesn't support NTFS file system, probably the one on your hard drive, so depending on if there is a way to access NTFS storage without Root access, you might need to root the device.
Give this a try " https://techpp.com/2015/06/25/how-to-enable-ntfs-support-on-android-with-without-root/ " I just found it so I can't confirm if it works or not as I always root my phones.

From my own experience before I got a license for the LTSB/LTSC, I used the W10 Pro, upgraded from a W8.1 Pro with an old laptop key, W10 Pro had few extra controls over the home edition (You can still get them with Registry), if you're a geek and love breaking and trying new things then Ill tell you that no matter what version of windows you are using you can get the control or the performance you desire. There is many 3rd party software that will help you on that as well!, some first party tools as well built in, "Powershell and CMD, Group Policy, the Registry, services manager", you can even just enable the admin account and delete the UWP apps or stop the telemetry processes, and if I remember correctly on W10 Pro and Enterprise there is a way you can enable only security updates, I usually remove windows update completely, that I need a bootable iso to get it back!
There is a lot you can tamper with and change whether you're using the LTSB/LTSC, Server, or the normal consumer version, the thing with LTSB/LTSC or Server, is that some of the control switches, just some! are already visible and easily accessible, unlike on the consumer version you gotta break some sweat.
Ill try not to bore you with details, sorry lol, there is a developer which I forgot his name that made a debloated iso or a debloated version of Windows if you wanna call it so! he removed uneeded stuff like UWP, edge, cortana, unistack services and a lot more, you can check his blog if you're interested here " https://litewinos.blogspot.com/ "
He also got a debloated version of the LTSB/LTSC which I am currently running and loving as well, I believe its the LiteOS LTSC 2019. You can check his work if you don't wanna bother yourself with tweaking a lot, or you can go the hard way as well, you'll learn a lot in the process I can assure you that.

    1. Really as long as you can pull at least 300Mbps it'd be bearable unless you're transferring tons of multi-gig files every single day (like I do).
    3. Yep, ideally keeping them closer to ambient is always better (obviously).
    4. Kinda sounds like RAID 5 or 6, although neither one of those has one drive dedicated to parity.
    6. Again, never heard of Rockstor so best advice is to try all three and figure out for yourself which one you like best. Personally I'm biased towards using Windows or OpenMediaVault as they're both super easy to get up and running (Windows obviously taking a bit less effort).

    1. MB/s and Mbps are totally different measurements. A single (even moderately old) SATA HDD is enough to saturate gigabit.
    2. Thinking 2.5" drives fail less from less parts moving is dumb, plain and simple.
    3. Leaving drives running 24/7 puts less wear and tear on them than constantly spinning them up and down.
    4. RAID 1 is probably the most sensible, albeit the least spacious. RAID 6 would probably be the happy middle ground between speed, space, and redundancy.
    5. If you're just doing plain network shares you can get away with fuckall ram (depending on what OS you're using, of course). Though bare minimum would probably be 4GB.
    6. Haven't tried what you're talking about, but setting up shares in Windows is braindead easy, but for that matter so is setting them up in FreeNAS or OpenMediaVault.

Dual channel and all dimms are working again!
Thanks all of the help, you guys saved me lots of money ^^

eDRAM is basically faster bit of memory that's in the cpu itself so the gpu has some fast memory to work with and then uses normal RAM to store less important things.
