That was what I was expecting, to be honest. I'm sure you can order brand new Intel stock coolers (with the TIM pre-applied, still in "liquid" form).

I was expecting them to take one or two stock coolers, scrape off the TIM, and use that for the test.

This? Well, as @Enderman pointed out, there are some problems with the way they did this test.

Was it interesting? Yes. Was it entertaining? Yes. Was it educational or informative? I would argue no.

Hell, they probably could have talked to their Intel rep to either:
    1. Get a supply of the TIM used
    2. Get a supply of new-stock Heatsinks
    3. Get the info on which exact TIM is used (allowing LMG to buy it themselves)

Sure you guys at LMG are busy with CES coming up, but this really feels like a filler episode. Anyone who is already a fan of LTT already knows the benefits of an SSD over a HDD and knows how to install one too. And for those who don't know how to install an SSD or reinstall Windows, this video doesn't really show how to step by step. It just looks like Luke already upgraded the laptop with the OCZ drive a long time ago and gave to his parents to use and they just threw in a new HDD with the clean install of Windows 7 just to make the video rather than using laptop that was actually using an HDD and really needed the upgrade. Why else would Luke be putting an old OCZ drive back into his potato of a laptop?

What is going on with you LMG? Misleading thumbnail and title for a video that is just you swapping an HDD for an SSD in a laptop.

You know, I've kept my mouth shut about the decline of LTT for a long time simply because this forum is one of the most user friendly forums out there...  But this is the most click bait title I've EVER seen and it is the SAME video they made 3 years ago.  Quite literally shows no one anything we didn't already know and really felt like a blank video just to advertise 3 different spots...  Not only that, it is showing newbs that they can just transfer drives from system to system without knowing what to do with drivers and installations... This gives me more of a mess to clean up than it ever helps fix.  I'm legit kinda upset at this video and really tired of LTT's latest conceitedly assertive and dogmatic points of view that are just simply, for lack of a better word, unhelpful to really anyone.  A new person in computers would watch this and almost instantly brick their computer because they're swapping out HDDs and SSD's without doing any of the things otherwise, and someone educated about computers looks at this and cringes.  And people in the middle are either so laid back they're not going to do anything at all, or they're so gung-ho they've already messed up 100 different computers to get one game to play.

I'm really disappointed here.  CES coverage had better be BALLIN and this had better just been a "filler" content to meet their 1 video per day thing.  If not, there is a great chance that I'll probably quit watching LTT all together, I'm already starting to tune out to the point where I only watch 2-3 videos a week anyways.

EDIT:  I want to make 2 more points that weigh in on my heart heavily as a LTT Community member (I mean hell I've been around for years and have thousands of post) and as a PCMR advocate.

    1.  As a LTT Community Member I think LMG is quite literally defining a shill right in front of our eyes.  Just looking at this thread, not a single person has said how happy they are with the content.  Everyone is upset with it, and this has been common place for about the past 2-3 months and the response we're getting is "its what YouTube likes to see".  Who in the hell cares about YouTube and its millions of minions?  Even Linus, Luke, and Taren have all said on the WAN show that they don't even look at YouTube comments anymore.  So LMG as a company, and Linus as a individual, are going to not pay attention to a group of people (virtually at all) they they're going to market and build content for these people?  It is QUITE LITTERALLY the exact definition of a sell out.  These videos reflect more than just Linus's opinion, it reflects on me and other community members.  If someone would have asked me 2 years ago if I was a member of LTT Community, I'd say: "Hell yea, come join us on our LTT Star Citizen group."  But now I cant say that, I'd actually probably be ashamed and embarrassed to say that I'm a member of this community that is lead by these types of videos and content.  Not to include reporting and news inaccuracies.  (And to anyone that says, "Oh their not computer scientist" or anything like that, I say that ignorance has NEVER been a excuse for false advertising, inaccurate news reporting, or any other shady activities.)

    2. As a PCMR member, I'm starting to shun LTT as a invalid source of getting any news.  I personally, look at PCMR as something like the NFL and LTT as something like a team of the NFL.  And I'm getting ready to restructure the divisions around and LTT is probably going to be left out of my top 5 news sources, especially since Level1Tech is a thing now.  I know LMG is shooting for a more fun oriented set of videos, but quite literally I'd have to go back several weeks before I found a video of a new product being launched, or something that is actually educational.  As a PCMR member, I'm just clinging onto LMG and LTT as some hope that after Linus is done making babies he will come back and grab a hold of this ship and set it right.

The point I'm getting to here is I hope LMG realizes sooner rather than later who it is that got them to the 1000000 subscriber mark.  Its not the average person, its this subset of PCMR people, nerds, and gamers who want to learn and be educated.  Not just a bunch of teenagers that want something funny to show their friends.

Ok i finally found the cause of the problem and i blame fucking Microsoft for it. I noticed that my virtual RAM usage was around 95% when xcom2 is running. I did a fresh windows 10 installation a month ago and windows capped the virtual RAM at 1 GB while the little box below recommends 2 GB.... So i switched to let windows handle the RAM size instead of a limit.
The funny thing is that my real RAM never went over ~70% usage.

Post by Wendell on the forums:
The picture I posted earlier (the one where Logan says he is Steve Jobs from now on) is from that Google Drive link.

Pistol has also made some interesting posts on the official Discord channel.
    Pistol is saying that:
    1) Qain got fired because he didn't do his job. (source 1 and 2)
    2) Claims that Wendell has been taking money from Tek Syndicate to fund his own company. (source 1, 2, 3 and 4)
    3) Claims that Wendell doesn't actually own 30% of Tek Syndicate and that Logan owns 100% of the company. (source 1)
    4) Claims that Logan has not used any Tek Syndicate money for personal things. (source 1)
    5) Qain and Wendell are lying about a bunch of things. (source 1)
    6) Pistol removes the ability to look at chat history on the Discord server and when asked why, Pistol replied with "I dont have to explain myself to anyone.". (Source 1, 2)

I really don't think Wendell meshes with the LTT crowd. They're even more unprofessional and "silly" then Logan was (in general, not referencing this specific incident).

But LMG has EXCELLENT management. Linus and Yvonne do a fantastic job, and I credit Yvonne with most of the hard lifting on the back-end administration of the company.

One thing that has been bothering me about this thread and the one that got locked: People commenting on Pistol, and questioning her relationship with Logan and saying bullshit stuff like "Don't ever involve your romantic partner in your business". Claiming things like she's spending company money or that TS is giving her a free ride, etc.

What the fuck? Pistol is paid a salary. WHAT SHE DOES WITH THAT SALARY IS NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS. Her relationship, whether intimate or not, IS ALSO NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS. This isn't games journalism. She isn't a journalist and he isn't a game dev, nor vice versa. If she and Logan both share rent at an apartment or house, who the fuck cares? Again, none of our business.

Most small businesses are co-managed by the husband and wife owners.

She might have said stupid stuff and she might not be likeable (I don't know her or anything about her, so I have no comment on her character or likeability - I frankly never even heard of her before this incident). But that doesn't matter. Comment directly on those things, if you must. But let's not make up bullshit like somehow she's a conflict of interest in the company.

I'm taking the firm stance of "wait until the dust settles". The amount of "pulled this out of my ass" bullshit being spread is insane. Like some dude randomly joking that maybe Logan was taking drugs somehow turned into a bunch of forumers now take it as fact that he's addicted to Cocaine. Like seriously? Fucking hell, you guys are adding EVEN MORE DRAMA to this shitstorm then was there already.

As for the transparency and the money? NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS. Even if you're a Patreon backer, that does not give you the right to know anything about their finances. They can voluntarily tell us, if they want (But they shouldn't - seriously, business finances are not a public discussion). But they have no obligation to do so. A Patreon backer backs because either they like the community, or for the specific "goals". If those goals aren't being met, it doesn't give you the right to demand their financial information. If you aren't satisfied with your Patreon donations, then YOU SHOULD STOP DONATING.

Man, I would have thought more people would look at this calmly and rationally, but I guess not.
  21. Agree
Drunken Savior reacted to dalekphalm in The situation at Tek syndicate
Simple. Don't donate when they start asking for more money.

Here's the key difference: You can ASK them what happened to the other money, and they can DECIDE to tell you. But you cannot "demand" it (Well I guess you can, but they don't have to listen).

He very well might have been ready to start a new fundraising campaign. But when and if that happened, people would have the opportunity to ask questions (but not demand a response), and if they don't get good enough answers?

VERY SIMPLE: Don't donate. Done. Easy.

Personally I have no stake in TS and whether they succeed or fail miserably. The only videos I've ever finished watching all the way through from them, are Logan's series of Fubar2000 tutorials (Which, were fantastic videos). I simply don't like Logan as a personality much, and never have, and none of the other members drew me in enough to be interesting.

It definitely is Wendell's business, for sure. He is entitled, but legally, and morally, to know what's going on, especially if he does indeed own a 30% stake in the company. But it should never have gone public between them.

I also see no proof that Wendell, or Logan, or Qain, or Pistol is telling the truth or lying. People are just assuming Wendell is telling the truth and Logan is lying, because that's where the community lines ended up being drawn.

Wendell might be truthful. But he more than likely doesn't know the whole truth (Well maybe he does NOW, but as of his twitlonger statement, it's obvious he's in the dark about many details).

I don't know everything that happened. But neither do any of you. What I am doing is not burning someone at the stake without a trial, so to speak. If it comes to light that everything Qain and Wendell said was true, and Logan is a liar and was stealing money to buy Cocaine, and all of this has evidence to support it? Then sure, fucking burn him at the stake.

But that has not happened. I will, as always, wait for the full truth, from both sides, to come out, before I make any judgement on Logan.

Not really. Its more like you pay for warranty which replaces key with working one. There will be keys which don't activate and G2A can't do anything about them. All they can do is give another key.

Drunken Savior got a reaction from hmmrthelegend in What is Denuvo ???
Denuvo is a piece of anti-tamper software that protects the .exe file.  In many cases, modders will alter the .exe file of a game to allow for complex mods to function.

[Edit]  Denuvo doesn't prevent all modding, just mods that need the .exe file altered.  MGSV, Just Cause 3, and Dragon Age: Inquisition all have mod scenes to varying degrees.

As for your other question (Does Denuvo affect the performance of games?), it's hard to say if it affects any game significantly.  Anything running on your PC in tandem with games can affect performance, but it's unknown if Denuvo has had any major impact (the early SSD rumors were virtually proven false as no one has been able to successfully recreate the problem after it was discovered and many people, myself included, looked for excessive writing to the storage device when playing Denuvo protected games).  However, many games that run Denuvo have been very good, in terms of performance, such as MGSV and Mad Max.  And so far, the newest Denuvo protected game, Doom, doesn't seem to suffer from being a badly optimized PC game.  So my gut tells me that any performance impact Denuvo has is very, very minimal and that badly optimized games, like Arkham Knight, are at the fault of their developers and not Denuvo.
