The thing is, some people are not really affected by screen tearing and refresh rate. It doesn't really bother most people. But if you see it. And notice it. Especially 60hz. Then you will want better.

Don't buy the M50x's. I own them and some DT770's and the Beyerdynamics are just better, comfortwise and sound is not just pure monitoring which is probably not what you will be doing.

Yeah, sounds very likely that you have an unstable overclock. Your stress testing should be done over a 24hr period (in an ideal world). Try bringing your overclock down slightly or increase your voltage or offset slightly if you think it's safe to do so.

Are you sure you are not compared megabyte (MB) to megabit (Mb)?
4Mbps = 0,5MBps which may be rounded down to 0 when downloading..
 
But can you show a screenshot of a speedtest.net test and maybe the speeds where it says 0mbps? (such as a Steam download or where ever it occurs)
