Bananasplit_00 reacted to Lightwreather in The (small) Great Apeing - $1.7 million in NFTs stolen in apparent phishing attack on OpenSea users
Summary
On Saturday, attackers stole hundreds of NFTs from OpenSea users, causing a late-night panic among the site’s broad user base. A spreadsheet compiled by the blockchain security service PeckShield counted 254 tokens stolen over the course of the attack, including tokens from Decentraland and Bored Ape Yacht Club.

My thoughts
So, it appears that someone used a combinaiton of Phishing and Contractual loopholes to steal (scam) people out of a major amout of Crypto. I don't really know what to say apart from the usual phishing prevention advice - Do not click on any random links, make sure that they are from official sources. If it's too good to be true it likely is, no company is gonna ask for your personal details over email, yada yada yada.

Pretty sure that's not at all what the image is showing. Even in the description it just says they're moving where the FCC label goes.
Not really much newsworthy stuff to go on here..

Bananasplit_00 reacted to Blademaster91 in GPD Claims Steam Deck is Worse than Win 3 and is Closed Platform. Users Call GPD’s Statement Shameful.
Well thats a dumb statement to be making, and Linux can't have pirated games? lol
Also it sounds like GPD is afraid the Steam deck will affect their sales, I think GPD should be selling cheaper handhelds, IMO their products were very overpriced for the hardware you get.

Is this supposed to describe what it looks like? I know what an MP3 player and foot massager look like on their own but the idea of 2 MP3 players sitting in a foot massager is not something my brain can comprehend.

Bananasplit_00 reacted to Middcore in Intellivision launches yet another round of crowd-funding, reveals massive debts, contemplates NFT's
Summary
The revived (or maybe it's better to just say new) Intellivision has launched a fourth round of public funding for its Amico "console," this time through the crowdfunding-investment platform StartEngine. Meanwhile, its new SEC filings will do nothing to sway the many observers who think the project is at best doomed and at worst a scam.

My thoughts
At this point, hitting the Ouya's level of "success" looks wildly optimistic and I look forward to someday watching Crowbcat and other YouTube documentarians' coverage of the Amico saga.

Bananasplit_00 reacted to leadeater in Frying the circuitry - HD Radio station destroys Mazda's infotainment system
Mazda isn't blameless but generally in accidents and incidents the party that caused it is to blame and/or liable. Not always the case of course, can also be shared. Thing I'm looking at is these bands are licensed and you need one to be allowed to transmit and you have to also be compliant, I doubt that applies to the transmission of this data format but I still fall back on the whole these are controlled frequency bands and you are expected to be doing it correctly.
I don't think the owner should have to pay anyway, I'm fairly sure they wouldn't have to here under our laws but I couldn't 100% say that. The affect model generation and date range also means here the majority of the vehicles would be under the original manufacturers warranty, those can be up to 10 years here. Our consumer protection laws are quite strong and a lot of them are weighted against expected lifespan of the product so Mazda would have a real hard time not having to pay for. I wish tough consumer protection laws were much more wide spread in the few very large market that would have an actual global impact.

I'm sure this will tie up the US court system while lawyers get fat, mazda owners get nothing and mazda does what all big car companies do and blames the dealer (not that I care dealers are all scum).

Bananasplit_00 reacted to mr moose in Portless Laptops are Coming! Run Away! or are they going to be awesome?
So there are lots and lots of debates and arguments about dongles, lack of portability, what to do with corded peripherals etc. But no one seems to have hit on the most important problem. Are we not supposed to be developing tech that is more power efficient and uses less materials to manufacture? IF so then wireless charging uses more copper and is less efficient that a wire, plus a box like dongle for everything else requires more materials than putting the ports directly onto the motherboard.
It's like a step backwards for the sake of what? I can't even think of an advantage.

Doesn't matter, wouldn't know, everything that could say or help is disabled so... 🤷♂️
Probably also not a smart idea that they posted an image showing a strong likelihood of the usage of a pirated version of Windows too 😉
