didn't the ps4 outsell the xbone overall? 
personally i purchased a ps4 for my young brother, i wanted to build him a pc but if i did he would've ended up playing alone since all of his friends got ps4's. so i got him a ps4 instead so he can play bf4 with his mates. 

Your reasons for wanting the GTX780 are solid, I see no reason to recommend the 290x, right so will it stay above 30fps @1440p? Short answer yes but maybe not Crysis3 on balls to the walls settings, but from the benches I've seen you should stay over 30fps fairly comfortably.

hmmm, looks like they pulled a complete 180 from what they said in this article, where they stated that the exclusivity was because of a business deal between EA and Microsoft.

i don't know, maybe Microsoft is forcing them not to hint at the fact that they only have a timed exclusivity, making them use marketing bullet points such as "The Cloud"

Yes but sony is not implementing a system or a tool that locks your game to your PSN account. which is what microsoft is doing making it easier for publishers to simply flip switch and prohibit used games. 
with sony the publishers have to used a different method of authentication outside PSN, this is what EA tried to do with online passes.

as someone who has had an Xbox since it first came out and subscribed to Xbox live since day 1 microsoft makes me sad and wont be getting the X-Bone :(

You do realize that the overclocking market is very insignificant in intel's overall sales, it's pretty understandable why they didn't focus on overclocking but instead focused on on more power efficiency which gives them the edge in portable computing. plus the majority (vast majority) of desktop users don't overclock, heck the majority don't even build their computers. 
so from the company's point of view, it makes sense to focus on improving features that will effect the majority of the market. 
plus, intel is in a very comfortable position when it comes to performance due to the lack of competition from AMD, their CPU's are miles ahead of AMD cpu's, this gives them the freedom to work on things other than performance boosts. 
 
please don't overhype products that you have no idea how they're gonna perform, haven't learned your lesson from bulldozer's launch?
and do you honestly think that a company that's as big as intel who's driving the industry forward and pretty much owns the market is gonna struggle with a new process shrink? they're building new manufacturing fabs just for 14nm cpu's for god sake.
