That's not entirely true. The union still has to follow the will of it's members. If a majority vote to reject an offer, then the union has to reject that offer.

The point being, if you work at a unionized job, you don't have to join the union - though you get whatever the union negotiates. On the flip side, you have no control or say in the union.

The first step would be to determine if your EdgeRouter itself is able to get gigabit speed, then work your way down your topology from there.

RAM has an XMP profile which allows it to run at speeds higher than the supported JEDEC speeds of the CPU automatically when selected. AMD doesn't have XMP since that is an Intel thing, but they have their own equivalent which usually works or the RAM can just be manually overclocked to the advertised speed.

I thought like this for a while, like electric cars were stupid because then the emissions would just be from the power plant. But someone pointed out to me that just about any modern power station is going to be significantly more efficient than a tiny car motor, or relatively tiny truck motor in this case.

The two oldest patents are just about to be 15 years old (unified shaders and parallel pipelines), one is 7 years old (graphics architecture), and the other is still pending approval but was filed in 2016 (graphics architecture). Regardless, I don't think they should be invalidated just because they are widely used in modern graphics. That defeats the purpose of the patent.
