Lauen got a reaction from CwGoh in Rampage IV Gene Audio Quality vs. Sound Cards
*OFFTOPIC*
I forgot my M50's at a friends house, so now I have to use my Sennheiser PC360 until I can get the M50's back. so I'm stuck with these, and I miss the sound of the M50's so much.

Yeah the M50's are much much warmer than the sennheisers.

Lauen reacted to EmoRarity in Will a soundcard improve my sound/mic quality?
Soundcard in your case would be pointless, don't bother.
Upgrade headphones first then don't get a soundcard.
Thats want marketing would like you to think, and more so a soundcard worsens quality over onboard.

Lauen got a reaction from Aleppi in Xonar Phoebus with 598s
Linus has been misguided, and/or he has horrible experience from older crappier motherboards. I do have a soundcard, the ASUS Xonar D2X, but I hear almost no difference from that to the laptop I have at work, which has some Intel audio (atleast that's what Windows tells me)
The Realtek in most motherboards is just fine. Also, the 558 and 598 are only 50 ohm, which should work fine with most integrated audio and phones. '
EDIT: I don't know who Malcolm Turnball is.

But the 598s are cheaper than the 558s from where i am getting them for some weird reason so I will be getting those but thanks anyway!

Lauen got a reaction from Simmytu in End Of The Line For AMD FX Processors. (UPDATE)
I think what a lot of people don't realize is that AMD is in no way at all backing out of the high-end market. and I doubt they will bring out some 8-core APUs, simply because they have a genious plan (at least in my opinion)
What they are doing is: they are bringing back the co-processor. the co-processor, back in the day (I only heard of this, not seen myself) was a special processor used to calculate flops and similar things. the thing is, that Intel has been focusing on having as much flops perfomance as possible, while AMD has good integer performance compared to Intel. so AMDs CPUs are weak at calculating flops. BUT! GPUs are very good at calculating flops. so what AMD is doing, is using their introduced Heterogenous System Architecture (HSA) to make a new kind of CPU. err, the APU. according to what I've heard (I don't remember where I found it) they are gonna offload flops-heavy work to the iGPU, and the rest stays on the CPU. this is a brilliant way of doing it, but they are in no way the pioneers of it, it's an old concept, theyr'e just resurrecting it.
and although intel are doing sort of the same thing with their Xeon Phi line which they call a co-procesor, those are usually found within the server market, and are quite expensive. when I first realized this, my love for AMD just went through the roof, and I was saying to myself, much glory, such amaze, wow.

A soundcard shouldn't have "incredible bass" any more than your car's engine should have a good grip on the road.

Stay away from skullcandy. Simple as that
I don't know what prices and availability in your country looks like, but I'd keep an eye out for the JVC HA-FX101 or HA-FR201 (microphone version).
Here are some useful links for IEM's.

I think if it's completely verified that they are real, you should buy them and sell on eBay, then use that money towards something that won't give you aural cancer.

Lauen reacted to TechFan@ic in End Of The Line For AMD FX Processors. (UPDATE)
My post isn't biased, well not according to the people that have been commenting on it.
And I do believe you are referring to the microOP cache that cuts the misprediction penalty by 3 cycles.
AMD's & Intel's microOPs are quite different, they're not comparable in fact : http://www.realworldtech.com/bulldozer/5/ .
The main reason Intel CPUs consume less power is because of the smaller die size as a result of the smaller manufacturing process that is a fact.
Certainly cutting the branch misprediction penalty does improve efficiency by improving performance but does not result in a lower power consumption on its own.
You also need to realize that intel's AVX (& AVX2) instruction set is a flaoting point instruction set, and in fact the upcoming AVX-512 instruction set is going to be used in Intel's Knight's Landing architecture a sucessor to the current line of many core Xeon Phi, essentially a GPU.
So Intel is actually off-loading its floating point work to the GPU which is exactly what AMD has already done with Kaveri.
The APU and heterogeneous architectures are the future, AMD is leading it and Intel is saliently admitting it.

Lauen reacted to wpirobotbuilder in End Of The Line For AMD FX Processors. (UPDATE)
Maybe people should read the Pcper article from a few months ago. This isn't the rise of the Intel monopoly by any stretch of the imagination.
Instead of having a CPU with 4-8 super powerful cores, you will have a CPU with 4 powerful cores and many dozens of smaller cores. Integer and floating point performance will explode, and power consumption won't go through the roof.
Mantle will decrease the CPU requirement for games, meaning that you won't need to spend more for an Intel CPU.
It's going to take time though. Patience, grasshopper.

Lauen reacted to SirRoderick in Good Quality Earbuds?
Good god man, I can only assume you never tried better ones. I mean sure, for that price they work fine, if a little heavy on the bass (okay a lot heavy). If you spend twice that you get buds that are ten times better in audio delivery!

Contact them with your cases serial number + a purchase invoice.
They will send out a replacement IO panel, you don't need to RMA anything.
I already got my Midi R2 a new IO panel since the headphone/mic port are misaligned. Now I have a extra fan controller I can mod somewhere for extra fan control
