Ialyrn got a reaction from Najuno in Corsair H75 AIO - High temps
@Najuno@DHelios@ELSknutson Turns out it was the AIO unit. Just after I had applied fresh thermal compound resteated the pump/water block, I noticed moisture on my motherboard. Must be leaking somewhere near the radiator, so the unit is going in the bin. Not a total loss however, the stock cooler still works, temps are what they where before I ever had an AIO; which will do for now. And I also re-purposed the fans from the AIO, they are now working as case fans connected to the system fan headers.

I do not eat steak at a restaurant, as they can not cook it how I like it. I prefer my steak to be cooked all the way through, but asking for it cooked that way in an eatery, consists of getting a block of coal on a plate. At home I cook my steak to medium-rare, then I lightly wrap it in foil and place it in a pre-heated oven at 120°c for 20 to 25 minutes. This gives me a chance to sort out what ever I am serving with the steak (usually chips with a little salad, possibly some onion rings if I am feeling particularly greedy at the time), and cook my other half's steak. He likes his blue, so is very quick and easy to do his. Mine come out of the oven perfectly cooked throughout, but without been a block of tasteless coal.

7, will you have your bits cut off?
8, How will you have children?
9, what is it like/how will you have sex? (might not be from your parents this one, but someone will ask it. As well as other highly personal and embarrassing questions).
10, Have you seen a doctor yet? (followed up by) You could just be depressed/have mental issues. (again, not necessarily asked by your parents)
There are lots more, but as you can see this list would be quite large if I list them all. The sheer amount of questions you will be asked from this point will be insane. You just have to grin and bear it unfortunately, and answer them the best you can. Anything you deem to be far too "personal", just tell them to mind their own bees wax.

Ialyrn got a reaction from PlayStation 2 in Is Forza Motorsport 6 worth getting?
No it doesn't, FM5 has less cars, less tracks, and more micro transactions. Not to mention that FM6 has night and rain racing also, which was not in FM5. And it runs at a rock solid 1080p@60fps.
@Dan Castellaneta The micro transactions in FM6 can be hidden via an option in the "HUD" menu, and they are not needed at all. You get free cars and in game credits from the in game prize spins, and credit rewards are plentiful in races and rivals mode. Not to mention even more credits via "forza rewards", which increase as your "tair" level increases (this is separate from in game level). And free cars are given out from T10 all the time, usually with a special paint design on them denoting a new film/game/racing event, or even just celebrating a particular season such a Christmas. Since the game released we have been given at least 3 new DLC cars added for free, all Nissan. both road and race cars. 2 Ford mustangs gifted, the normal version and the Shelby GT500, both with halo designs painted on them. A Ford pickup truck with a fallout 4 design on it, and even more gifts such as those.
Forza can actually be good fun, even if you have no friends to play it with at first. There is full car painting, including the creation of intricate vinyl designs. There is a full upgrade and tuning system, so you can customize the performance of your chosen car in any way you wish. The drivatars can provide a little challenge, but they are fairly slow, and brake in some weird places. The multiplayer can be a crash fest, but that is the same in the majority of racing games with an online component. Even iRacing has some people crashing on purpose. There is clean multiplayer racing to be had on Forza though, as there are groups of people who run racing series, as well as tandem drifting competitions using private rooms. Over on the official Forza forums, you can find like minded people to race with, discuss tuning with, and even painting. Not to mention there is a thriving photography element inside the game and community, as well as plenty of Forza video based content such as montages and lets plays by some decent youtubers. Such as
    Domestic Mango:
    Fail Race: https://www.youtube.com/user/FailRace
    AR12Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/user/AR12Gaming
    MrAeroHD: https://www.youtube.com/user/MrAeroHD/featured
    And more such as those.
As for if the game is worth it, that is really up for you to decide. I play Forza a fair bit, as well as various PC racing games such as Assetto, iRacing, and Dirt Rally. It is a different game, it is fun and enjoyable, and isnt as serious in nature as the other 3 games I listed. Has plenty of options for things to do in game. It does have fairly mediocre wheel support, as racing wheels for the Xbox one have to be licensed by MS. And the FFB isn't the best in the racing game industry, but with a licensed wheel, it is still a lot of fun. And they are still very usable. I use a racing wheel with Forza.

Have you even tried an xbox one? Better yet, do you even read what you type? Because when it comes to the xbox one, you sure do throw a lot of hyperbole about!Right at this very moment there are quite a few games on the X1 that are running at 1080p 60fps, but I will grant you that not all of them are. Some are 1080p 30fps, and some are using a lower resolution. But to be quite honest, who the hell really cares? This resolution bs wasn't even a thing with gaming consoles until this generation, but what does it matter as long as people are enjoying a game they like? A higher resolution might improve the image on the screen, but it doesn't make a bad game good. Just as a slightly lower than 1080p resolution doesn't make a good game bad. And not every single game requires that golden 60fps either.

I disagree. Look at it this way, the PSU for the xbox one fails. And all Microsoft need to do is send you a new one. The PSU on the PS4 fails, and you have to send the entire unit away for repair. The design for the xbox one isn't that lazy, microsoft just putting some forward thinking into it bringing down the cost of potential repairs/replacements, and going their own route. As for the looks, they do not bother me. It looks very much at home on my black tempered glass tv stand, and since 2013 I have not once thought "god that thing is huge".
As for if Microsoft release a version of the console without the blu-ray. I could be tempted, if the price is right. Just have to see if it is true or not.

If your gears are not changing correctly, then that is often cable stretch. If your chain is falling off at the wheel end or bike frame end of the cassette, or not changing to the lowest/highest cog, then you need to adjust the derailleur limits. And you will also need to check the rear hanger for damage if you have had a crash, as they can easily become bent (This pertains to your current issues). If the gears are jumpy, chain slipping, and just plain misbehaving. Then you would probably need a new cassette, and possibly new chain (this pertains to possible future issues due to wear and tear).

Ialyrn got a reaction from GoodBytes in if you upgrade hardware w windows 10 you will have to buy it! :(
With regards to windows, it has been this way for years. At the very least since windows xp. People have just been able to get around it by using phone activation, and speaking to an MS rep to get a new activation code. Back when I used to have a new system at least once a year I did this a lot with windows media center 2005, and had to do so a couple of times with vista. An OEM key is only supposed to be used the once, and it has always been the same. Heck, at one point you couldn't even buy the OEM version on its own, you had to buy it with a piece of computer hardware.
From what I have gathered, the free upgrade to win10 lasts for the life of the device. So that means when the motherboard dies, the license dies with it. And should be the same for any OEM versions. For retail versions, it should be the same as it always has been.

Ialyrn got a reaction from Username2460 in CPU Voltage rapidly changing effecting performance?
You need to buy a new motherboard in all honesty, as that motherboard was never originally designed with the FX-8 in mind. Or any of the current FX chips for that matter. It has the AMD 760G chipset, and you really need something more modern on the 990FX chipset for the CPU that you are using. There have been two other people that I know of on this forum running the same chipset and an FX-8 CPU, and have run into stuttering issues while playing intensive games. The 700 series of chipsets where made in 2007, the current line up of FX CPUS where released in 2012. Not to mention it only has a 4+1 power phase design, which is not good enough to run the FX-8 at its full potential. So even though your temps are ok, and everything will read correct within the bios and even in windows in general. The moment you try to do something intensive like gaming, the system will throttle back the CPU based on the increased power draw of the CPU. It has a TDP of 125 watts.

Racing games are my bread and butter, been playing them for as long as I can remember; which the earliest of which is in 1989. I also put towards the crown funding for Pcars and have over 3 years of experience in playing it because of it.

In terms of physics, Assetto corsa walks all over Pcars. In my opinion with my logitech G27 in hand, and past experience with a thrustmaster TX with both games also. I find the force feedback to also be far better in Assetto. I would also say the AI in Assetto is better as well. The AI in Assetto is slow, at least for me anyway. But they make far less stupid moves, unlike the AI in Pcars. In pcars, the AI will have a tendency to take you out of the race. Sometimes they fail to also take a corner, which can result in the entire grid been wiped out in one fell swoop.

As for Pcars been likened to Forza or GT, a lot of the hype billed it as a Forza and GT beater. In reality it is not. Pcars is aimed at a different market to Forza and GT, as the latter 2 are more casual in the way they play, and have extensive car lists and upgrades for those cars. With Forza also having its paint shop, which provides greater than the norm levels of customisation. With project cars, the only thing you can customise is the tuning setup on your chosen car, though this is also the same with Assetto.

Another issue with Pcars, is the fact a lot of bugs from early on in the dev cycle have carried over to the full release. Now this is the worst part about project cars, as some of these bugs are game breaking. SMS have said they will be fixing them, so we will see.

Pcars does have a lot going for it though, and even with the bugs and the AI, the online isn't all too bad. The graphics are some of the best I have ever seen for a racing game, with its only equal in this department been driveclub on the PS4. Unfortunately, the latter only runs at 30fps. Which is kind of bad for a track based racer. The game runs well on older Nvidia hardware, and my original testing with the game; till about a year ago anyway. Was done with a GT630 2gb graphics card. More recently with a GTX780 though. The game runs well on older graphics cards, but you may have to turn a few graphical options down or off. But that is the same with any newer game running on older or less powerful hardware.

If what you are looking for is a proper sim, with great physics and FFB, if you have or decide to get a wheel. Then I would seriously look into Assetto Corsa, Iracing, live for speed (older game), R factor 2; and the likes of those. Normally I would say to rule out Pcars, but to be fair, I think I am just been far too judgemental with it. Most likely because I put money towards it very early on, and took till the last couple of months before I personally saw any actual improvement over the earlier dev releases.

    Who gives a fuck.

The game still looks great, and more than a few of you will be struggling to run it as is even with more powerful hardware than consoles.

This isn't some new phenomenon that began in 2014.  This happens everytime a new console launches.  Devs always overestimate the hardware and it makes way more sense as a developer to make one spec for the game.  It's not as simple as turning off features on consoles, if they abandoned tessellation on certain objects then they have to go and remake those assets to still look good without it.  Likewise with real time water reflections versus non-real time reflections etc.   One design spec makes the most sense.  Boohoo, you lost some fluffy shadow effects.  Go throw your fucking PC out a window while you have your tantrum.

By all means though, feel free to boycott the game if it really bothers you that they removed some fluffy rendering features.  Don't be these guys and actually back up your whining with your wallet:

If you have an SSD, make sure you have a system controlled "page file" set up on a mechanical hard drive. I just put a Samsung 850 evo in my system yesterday as a boot drive, and encountered random crashes. This was due to running out of memory, and it appears GTAV doesnt like a system with very little to no page file.

To do this, open the start menu (windows 7). Right light on "computer" select properties, on the left hand side is a list of links; select "Advanced system settings". Click the "settings" button for performance, Click on the advanced tab. In the box marked "virtual memory", select "change". Highlight a mechanical hard drive (not your SSD), and click on the "System managed size". Then click set ok.

You may have to restart you system after, but once you do; try running GTAV again. If you still have issues with GTAV crashing, then you will have some different issue/s with the game; or your system. Most likely the game though.

If you have a wheel, then the only games you should really look at for drifting are
    1. Live for speed: Has a wealth of mods available to it, and is considered as one of the best racing games for drifting. It also has a fairly good community behind it for drifting. It is a tad aged though
    https://youtu.be/kU1FiurDZ0s
    2. R factor: Same as above really, and just as aged

3: Assetto Corsa: The newest game on the block that has already got a fairly decent drifting community behind it. It looks good, as it is newer than the other two. It also has a wealth of mods already, though some of the more niche mods are a tad harder to find. The modding communities from both Rfactor and live for speed are slowly moving over to assetto corsa, so expect even more mods for it in the future.

It is possible to play these games with a control pad by the way, but it takes more work to get a setup that feels good. But these are the 3 games I would recommend for drifting. If you are looking for a game with the size car list and customization available within Forza and Gran Turismo on PC, then you are going to be a little hard done by. There is only really shift and shift 2 that offer that sort of gameplay, and even then; it is limited in comparison to Forza and Gran Turismo. Hope this has helped you out though.
