Anthrax 7.0 - Mostly Whoosh With A Bit Of Sploosh

Hey I think the titles of the updates are worth it. I've been thinking I should really add them to the actual update somewhere though.

I think the titles are extreamly cool  and add the saspence every time you scroll and see one :)

Update #041: Nothing special to see here, just a look around. | 2013.11.02

Here are some closeups of the the H320 partially mounted with half the fans. In the second picture you can clearly see the fan trick I just discovered in action.

I truly do like the tubing you used, very clean looking.

Yep and well it doesnt have removable barbs and uses little clamps. So I just upgraded it when I needed longer lengths.

Update #042: What? Why? I think you might like fans a little bit too much... | 2013.11.02

Some of you may have been wondering what those 120mm to 140mm fan adapters and the adapted fans were for. Well here they are, or at least a mockup of their placement. You may notice in the last picture that they dont line up properly. Some simple modding should easily make this a possibility.

Sure, but I'm a NoiseBlocker man myself

But their eloop's dont come in 140mm, so making oreo's requires costly radiators. :P

I'm also curious about the fan stacks, everything I've seen about stacking fans in the past suggests its non-productive -> detrimental unless you have counter rotating blades or air flow straighteners in between (something a radiator will do).

Other then that its looking like quite the tidy build, I would have waited for the black/brown Noctuas personally but the brown/browner ones do have that instant recognition of quality associated with them :)

sorry, i didnt really get why you used two fans ontop. can you quickly explain that to me? ;-)

Basically I like fans and I really like how the Noctua and black color scheme goes together. This also makes the case look quite a bit fuller.

Is not detramantal. and counter rotating blades would actually make it worse not better. It increases pressure which isnt really needed. I basically did this bit because I could.

Before buying more than the two NF-F12 PWM's I had from my previous build I emailed them and was told "that you shouldn't expect them before 2014." I also really like how the noctua colors and black go together, especially black wire fan grills.

IIRC a pressure flow is one of the main reasons to get a fan at all.

Woo!

I meant the increased pressure of the two fans together isnt really needed. What I was trying to get at was that one of either of the fans would have been plenty.

Fair enough if its a "just coz"/aesthetic sort of thing why not :D

Counter rotating is better though because the air leaving a fan is actually coming out at an angle with a velocity so having blades running in the same direction means the second fan isn't going to get the "bite" it would on a straight flow this is where some flat fins in the shroud could help to straighten the flow before getting to the second fan, you are right that this is primarily to increase pressure though but that's why you stack fans (outside of aesthetics). Also when I say detrimental I don't mean it will hurt the fan but particularly with mismatched fans one will generally have a higher flow then the other essentially putting a greater restriction on it, you would likely see better results in terms of performance with the 140mms alone (again that point is moot if its a "coz I can" deal :D).

(Sorry this doesn't have a quote for conversational clarity but I cant seem to get the quotes to work on this forum )

the NF-F12 does have the focused flow fins on the back. I wonder if they would do any of the stuff that you are talking about.

you just press the quote button in the lower right of each post

Yea, you might be right, I'm not sure? Looking at them now they do look like they would straighten the flow, I know its possible to alter the exhaust behaviour with various filters etc. too like how the Corsair APs work.

Looking forward to your next update :) I'm particularly fond of how your water block and neoprene tube looks, very tidy :D

(Quotes seem to be broken for me, both quick and manual quote aren't working properly  :( )
