Nvidia's latest driver update "nerfed" my GTX 780 (kinda have proof)

Jerakl
Go to solution Solved by Jerakl,

Can confirm it was a bad driver.

Maybe not a "nerf" per se.

But I rolled it back and it went back to a solid 60 on the settings I was using right before I rolled back (medium-low) played around in a custom game with some bots for ~5 minutes. Bumped it back up to what I had it as before (highish settings). Runs at 60 like a champ.

Maybe it was not a nerf, per se, but rather a buggy driver. I don't know if it was on purpose or Nvidia just releasing a crappy driver.

Ok, so the game I mostly play is BO3

>inb4 "it's not optimized"

Explain then how I was getting 90 FPS before on high?

Right now I can barely get 50 FPS on medium-low.

Only thing that's changed in my system is driver update. That's it. BO3 hasn't updated so 3Arc can't have screwed anything up.

Here's some gameplay I have from before the driver update.

I won't upload any now because it runs anywhere from like ~27 FPS to ~56 FPS.

Anyways, I'll go revert drivers and report back.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

So go back to the old driver, it didn't "nerf" your 780, it's probably just ANOTHER shit driver.

I really don't get why people even update drivers unless they have to for a new game, once you find one that works great just continue using it -.-

I've been using 353.62 for months now, and before that I used 350.12 for ages.  Half the new drivers are shit most of the time so I don't even bother unless I have to.

Anyways, I'll go revert drivers and report back.

Please do that and do also some benchmarks that are well optimized. It still could be a problem with BO3.

I would really like to know if that's true.

No, don't go that route. Please q.q You know how it'll end ._.''

This is for the 780, nothing to do with the 970.

In a year the topic will be "Nvidia driver nerfed my 980" - give it time :P

It's not BO3, believe me.

I have almost 45 hours in-game and only had bad FPS since that update.

Mhmmmmmm - so what were you saying about Nvidia drivers being better in every way?

I dont think so, and not in a year if it did.  I think it was just a bad driver, and i would not judge Nvidia when amd most likely has done this too.

Why would I need to benchmark bad FPS. It got to the point where it was unplayable, which it wasn't before the update.

Before I could hold a stable 60 High-ultra. Now I can't hold a stable 50 medium-low.

There is nothing more to it than that. All that has changed in my system is an Nvidia driver update. That's the only variable.

I have no way of knowing - my 280 is dying - currently a Nvidia user with an 860m and a Game Ready driver that won't even work for 1 minute post install

Exactly, the 970 won't have anything like that happen. They will wait until the next card series before they start handing out shit drivers to make the 900 cards less appealing.

Probably because they will. I've seen my 780ti performance dive off a cliff with some games.
