64gb flash drive only 32gb available.

DaltonM

Hey guys, I recently just made my USB drive into a windows 10 install media, and after I completed the process, it's formatted into Fat32, with only 32gb available.

If I restore it to NTFS the only option is still 32gb.

I have check device manager and other places but I can't find out where to fix this simple problem :(

Can anyone help me out with this? Usually I can solve my own problems, but this one is making me feel like a doofus ;p thanks guys.

Try using SD Formatter to format the drive. Creating install media on USB drives does interesting things to the partitioning of the drive. This is what I use to clear up a USB drives I've used for Windows install media or as a Linux OS drive

I've used this software
http://tokiwa.qee.jp/EN/Fat32Formatter/
In the past to re-allocate unavailable partition bits on a flash drive / sd card.

(it might says something like "partition collapsed" error or whatever at startup, the software itself will still work just fine so ignore that)

It's easy enough to use, select the drive, click initialize, enter the size and update info. After that, if you format the drive again, it should have it's entire available space.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

Go to disk management and see if your flash drive has a separate unused partition. Run diskpart and clean. Might want to run those flash drive utility to verify if your drive is bad or the drive is reporting the wrong capacity.
