Ok, the Endeavor is now on sale

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/14974-Design-Science-And-The-Endeavor

TLDR

6 modular connections (3 paired sets)

Overall ship roles (as of this moment):
Farm and colony ship
Research and Exploration
Troop and medical spawn point
Overclock laboratory for component tweaking

______________

Personal Question:

Very interested in getting but if I do, I have to at least melt my anniversary Karthu-al and my LTI Vangaurd Sentinel. Would this be a good trade for this ship? (Don't mind losing the Karthu-al, but I'm questioning the loss of the Vanguard). Can also melt my LTI Reliant, but I am still debating on it.

Still new, but learning

Personally I would wait, did actually save up for a hope but TBH the modularity will probably be expanded in the future

I ended up getting it. I was ok with losing the karthu-al, as an LTI > Anniversary in worth. For the Vanguard, I do miss it, but the truth of me having horrible aim overall (at least compared to pros) that reminds me of why I should choose my original plans of crucible and endeavor.

Currently, I am thinking endeavor with hope set with a crucible parked in it; however, they still haven't told us how big or small the damn thing is... I do want the supercollider, but I think I will just get that part ingame.

Heck, just imagine for when they give singular room modularity within modules. I will probably have a medical bay pimped out with a day spa wing. And no @rentaspoon this doesn't include a chemical face mask. I don't do the 'cucumber on eyes trick.'

I have to admit, this does look pretty interesting. Although I really like the look of just the base ship.

No, i just skimped past it looking for the Manufacturing part, but i didn't find anything.

Not interested in the ship.

Aside from the Collider, the docking bay and the research pod  the rest is uninteresting.

Its really a ship for people that are more interested in living on a ship rather that living in a universe, I have the money to buy one but I'm going to pass, I wanted the Hope (medical) but I'd rather be in a cutlass red.

Players can not and will not (ever) be able to do manufacturing. This is directly from Chris Roberts as well as from various devs. The manufacturing we can do is actually labeled as the workshop in which you can alter and tweak existing components to be better or more specialized. In this case, this is currently the only ship that is capable of this. Outside of that, the only manufacturing we can technically be a part of is when you control an NPC assembly line as you would a city building or factory supervising mode.

@rentaspoon

The point of having the hope class endeavor is that you ideally use a cutlass red as an ambulance. You also use the endeavor as a spawn point for yourself and for others, particularly in space where you don't have nearby spaceports and docks.

I don't think either of you are putting the possibility of the ships in perspective.

In my case I don't care about the possibilities the ship have, but personal usage scenarios And this ship doesn't fulfil them as things stand.

I forgot about the NPC thing Chris talked about, but I don't really follow what's the difference on what I had in my mind and what Chris is on about. Could be that I'm missing something or Chris didn't explain it in a good way.

What was your thought on manufacturing, and what were you looking for in regards to it? If you mention these, I might be able to connect the dots better between if what is slated fits your expectations.

My main overall focus has been towards owning the crucible, the endeavor, and I had a decent interest in the reclaimer (but if not LTI, I'd just get it ingame). So I've kept up to date on manufacturing and component alterations. I can fly a ship, but my aim is not magnificent (too lazy to personalize my stick sensitivity), so I stick to specialized warfare (e-war, scouting, repair) and to manufacturing and provider of service. That being said, I try not to miss much of the information regarding it.

Long story short, similar to EvE online.

Mine ore

Refine/sell said ore into minerals

Use/sell said minerals to make components

Use/sell said components to make equipment.

????

Profit. And that's how I do business within the Corp.

I sell cheaper than market price to Corp members and if there are no buyers I put it in the open market or have the trading fleet deal with it then split the profit.

If non of this is possible I think Chris is doing a huge mistake.

Who would have fun in just Mining and refining ore then just sell it like in elite dangerous... It's sooooo boring.

Also let me remind you that some pledge packs came with X number of blueprints on said ship......

This...is what made me think it's similar to Eve online.

If those blueprints are not for "crafting" Wtf are they for?

@CatCloud

Mining, refining, shipping of materials yes. Actual creation of components (those used in production of modules, weapons etc) and endpoint components/products/equipment is done ONLY by npcs. These points are termed production nodes. Even when a players gets the chance to own a production node, all work done is made exclusively by the npc workforce that is hired.

The player will be required to pay the wages, establish the trading and acquiring for the raw materials and other components required for the process, as well as paying for and providing for entertainment, shops, housing, etc for the employees (if applicable; ie, if you are on a ship or on a reclusive asteroid base) for the sake of morale (which will be important). Meaning such points would be ran like a workshop/company simulator.

Following the production/manufacturing, players have the chance to modify and alter any form of equipment. This can increase the parameters and efficiency, or even specialize functions for the equipment. The endpoint can actually be like a recipe for specialized items that are possibly even unique and can be sold for a premium (info specifically guaranteed from CR). This point is what can be done with laboratories, like the one included with the supercollider, or within the hangar (or leased/owned properties) with the appropriate equipment to handle this.

So tl:dr, you can mine, refine, ship materials, give it to the NPCs to make them into the endpoint products, and then you can fine tune the products to make precisely what you are looking for.

Also for eve, the system is completely screwed over due to the existence of BPOs and how mega corps and rich singular players completely monopolized them after they were released and then can never be reacquired. They can also control all prices within the game by flooding the market or other ways of destroying the economy. So yeah... there is a very, very, very sensible reason why the PU will have a 10 to 1 NPC to player ratio, and why overall manufacturing is not handled by the players directly.

Edit:

Also let me remind you that some pledge packs came with X number of blueprints on said ship......

This was probably related to extra features or a precursor to the insurance system. Considering that no pledges have this anymore, you can probably consider it null and void, or reworked into a different mechanic.

I guess that's not.. Too bad, being a boss over a bunch of npc's...

Or even a station by the sound of it.

Hmmmm. I'll keep my Orion for now.

Thanks.

When I do get my supercollider, you are welcome to test it out for yourself prior to getting one of your own (when available in the PU)

Btw, mind having an extra person on your Orion at times? Would like to try out the different mining positions.

On another note, they plan to unlock stations for people to fight over and control. So like the Idris, supercarriers and corvettes, it will pretty much be a corporation level property.

That's the issue, its a ship you live in. No front line, always sitting at the back.

You are not required to live in it, just be online while it is being used. If you use the Hope model, you and your corp can fight in the next area and have the ship as a fall back.

Or you use it in tandem for discovery so that the frontline knows where to go. Thus either way requires a convoy and it is definitely of use for our Corp.

The medical respawn point and spare/rental ship hangar really add to the value of having a hope tag along in big battle.

Its a shame that that configuration uses all the module slots, throwing the over-clocking collider or the gardens on there would provide stuff to do if no one is dying.

Do the hope medical modules provide any gameplay that doesn't require injured/dead people?  Can you use them for meth production or is that limited to one of those base modules?

Well, we could have a bunch of people raid the medical supplies and have everyone run around the ship defibrillating each other? Would have something to do, and I certainly imagine we'll have more injured by the end. xD

Also, we have the 1st Q&A: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14982-MISC-Endeavor-Q-A-Part-1

I'll be making sure to have all stocked liquor cabinets on mine.

Once pu with modules is out, I'll have the super collider as well. Just imagine the things we can do.
