Highest Temperature Reference Cards?

ybriK

Is there a list where it states which reference cards ran the hottest (above 80 degrees Celcius) under heavy load, case closed and without any fan speed modifications? So far here are the cards I know from previous research/experience that hit high temperatures underload:

AMD:

HD 5970

HD 5870

R9 290X

Nvidia:

GTX 295

GTX 285

GTX 480

I guess your best bet would be to look for reviews of said cards.

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

Well any card will run Under 80 degrees if you ramp up the fans enough

couple of the higher power draw cards from nvidia like the 780ti can reach around 85C under load... possibly even the titan x

Lack of an pictures and not knowing if you actually have the cards or not. Case closed lack of evidence. Also it depends on where you live as well.

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

My 480 maxed at 77C with the fans at 70% using the 4K DSR option in Insurgency. It was pinned to the wall.

The 780/780 Ti ran about as hot as the 290X. My 780 Ti gets up to about 85C pretty quickly under heavy gaming load and starts thermal throttling.

I assume that you set the GPU Temp Target at 85C

My 780 (EVGA ACX SC) doesn't get above 60C in Fire Strike (900p monitor)

Because he had a hard drive.

GPU boost is disabled. I run at a 1200MHz overclock. The thermal limit is set to 90C although it seems the GPU just ignore that :)

Temperature depends on the cooler though, I should have said the 780/780Ti produce about as much heat as the 290/290X.

ahhh

I'm planning on getting a Refrence 780, Slap a Corsair Hydro Series HG10 N780 on it and get a 1080p 144Hz Monitor

Because he had a hard drive.

The GTX 980, not regarded as a particularly hot card, ran at about 80°C under load with a reference cooler.

My point being, 80 is high but fairly normal for a high-end card with a reference cooler, provided it isn't throttling much to stay at 80. Many of the reference cooled cards you listed go deep into the 90's at load.
