New 18 core Xeon from Intel coming Q2 2015

Xacraf

"Intel Xeon E7 v3 “Haswell-EX” central processing units for servers with up to eight sockets will feature up to 18 cores with the Hyper-Threading technology, quad-channel DDR4 memory controller, integrated PCI Express 3.0 links and so on. The chips will be introduced in the Q2 2015, according to a report from DigiTimes, which cites industry sources."

Brings on a whole new meaning to "all dem cores"....

I don't think even developers like Adobe would optimize their products for 36 threads.

Better single core performance please.

Or at least getting games optimized properly.

I'm fucking looking at you Ubisoft pieces of shits.

Or you could buy a 96 core xeon processor, those are a bit more powerful.

PLEASE! 18 cores is for peasants.

Wake me up when you can buy a new k-sku hex-core for $350. Its fantastic that you can stuff 18 cores into a space that small, but Intel has made no effort to make anything above a quad core remotely affordable, and this looks like it will yet again have little to no impact on the consumer-grade CPU market. Cheap hex cores or riot!!!

But those are for super threaded applications. And have really low clock speeds.

Jeez people bitching about low clock speeds and being bad for single-threaded tasks...DUH! It's meant for highly parallel server/supercomputer workloads and has a flipping FPGA attached! Jesus you gamer peasants aren't worth anything to Intel in the grand scheme. Got that?

IKR? make a petition aimed at ubisoft to finally optimize their damn game for a 8x18*2 core server grade multi thousand dollar supercomputing rig, right?
