GTX 670 Waterblocks work with reference 970.

Brawly

Just thought I'd throw this out there for those who did not know. It's 'confirmed' on EK's cooling configurator that their 670 full-cover blocks do, in fact, fit on the new GTX 970. I'm not sure if they'll be releasing discreet 970 waterblocks, but for those freaking out over the lack of 970 waterblocks (like I was), here's your answer!

They have done this before with AMD (7970 and 280X) cards but then they release waterblocks designed for the that card specifically. So all you have to do is wait. EK is quite fast in getting there products out there.

Yes. According to other sources, they compared the GTX 670 to the 760, and then to the 970. And the 670 blocks cover the entirity of the 760, which is the same size as the 970.

That's pretty cool, though I think the new 970 blocks will be the like 980 ones with the split flow. Too bad I'm not spending €100 on a block, I don't care how it looks just as long as it works.

And the 670 blocks are only $100 which is cool too.

Is that really what EVGA's cooler looks like? oh god the ocds

Just the one! They also have ACX versions, but these are their blowers

apparently the 970 reference isnt in production because the implementation of nvidia's stock cooler is more expensive than a non reference so unless the non reference blocks will also fit its irrelevant and unlikely because the cooler designs have changed overtime

The PCB's are still reference though.. they fit. EK wouldn't post that they did if they weren't fairly sure they did.

They don't yet. But one might be released similar to how seperate blocks were produced for DCII 780's and such. The 670 blocks work for the cards with the reference PCB though. And with the ASUS you're pretty much paying for the cooler, so why get it if you're gonna watercool the block anyway?.. Get a reference OC'd card if you want it boosted.

the ASUS 670 never made a reference GTX 670 and was always a DCUII platform (custom PCB)

so i'd be very doubtful the GTX 970 DCUII platform is the same (currently STRIX only made).

EVGA coolers are ugly as balls.

Also the 970 does use the gimped PCB.
