7700K --> 9700K / 9900K

Would I benefit from moving to a ninth gen processor? I game at 3440x1440 100hz.

 

95% of my usage is gaming. Sometimes I do some encoding stuff but it's rare.

 

Is four cores completely outdated now? If I don't upgrade now I'll upgrade next year for sure with 10th gen.

Here's the real question: are you satisfied by your gaming performance? If yes, then don't bother upgrading. The 7700k is still a great CPU.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Wait until next year. The 7700K is still a sufficient gaming chip and you're certainly not being held back by it, especially not at 3440x1440.

depends on whether you're CPU or GPU bottlenecked in games. I myself think you can wait, but still I'm not you

There is no such thing as future proof. 

 

Also, your targeted upgrades hardly seem worth the price. Why would you pay so much for 5 more fps? You could probably get a better CPU cooler and overclock to get that increase.

Find out GPU usage and CPU core usage in games first.

 

Also unless your CPUs evolve automatically without you buying another one, it's not future proof. It's at most future compatibility.

Yeah, the question is whether those 5fps are worth $1000 to you since you have to replace your CPU and motherboard.

Also the 9700k won't be much of an upgrade, the 9900K is.

I will check GPU / CPU statistics tomorrow and consider how things are.
