low performance on gtx msi 1080 gaming x

dirolas

Hello first of all.

My rig:

PCU - i5 8400

RAM - Kingston HyperX FURY 2666 mhz

MOBO - Z370 PC PRO

650W PSU

GPU - MSI GTX 1080 GAMING X

Display - Benq xl2411z 144 hz 1080P

So i've been playing pubg most of the time , and my GPU usage doesn't go more then 60%. Having ultra textures / AA, rest on very low.Temperatures are quite low with only 50% Fan speed , i'm hitting no more then 60c.Well i'm aiming to hit constant 150FPS , but i see some stutter in time to time , is this suppose to be like it ? Will try BF1 and see if my gpu can will be used 90-100% while playing...

So is the game is so unoptimized that my gpu isn't fully used or i need bigger display for gpu to be used fully?

yeah i thought so that its still crappy asf , going to try on BF1. Or maybe i should run some sort of stress test for my gpu to see how it's on.

3d mark has some nice test, or unigine heaven or superposition.

What resolution? Didn’t have any issues with my 1080 on pubg. The new map runs great. Can even run sli with the default profile and get a decent bump from the other card only being used 25%. But that’s at 1440. 1080 on a single card works quite well too.

How much ram do you have, you only listed speed. 60% useage makes it sound like something else is a bottleneck. Run HWmonitor and tell us the useage on CPU, ram, storage.

There's a good chance BF1 might be bottlenecked by your CPU (it already uses like 60-70% of my 6800k [4.2Ghz, 6-core with hyperthreading]).

PUBG is probably also bottlenecked by your CPU at those framerates. Modern games seem to reply more and more on CPU performance (I feel like 10 years ago this was not nearly as true as it is now). If you're going above 144fps (btw just lock the framerate in the settings, no reason to go above 144) you will see tearing/sync issues which you might interpret as stutter.

In BF4 I see a significant CPU bottleneck (1 thread always at 100%) and see huge stutters/frame drops when I get above 120ish fps. I have to turn my settings to max and turn screen scaling up (I use 125%) to keep the framerates low enough (100-120fps) that the CPU is not bottlnecked. You might have to do the same or limit your framerates.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.
