Help required with choosing a new laptop

Hey guys!

I'm on the market for a new laptop, but I'm kinda of out of the loop with them.

I'm looking for a mobility type laptop, meaning I want it as thin and light as possible. A long battery life is also a must if possible

13-14"

Mainly for work related stuff (as in word processing, PowerPoint), vídeo and picture editing, and obviously teh internetz.

Estimated budget of around €1.100 (give or take)

From what I've investigated, I'm kind of torn between a Surface Laptop, or a Macbook air (2017). Thing is, I have no experience with Macs...

Any advice, or suggestions would be crazy appreciated!

My wife has the Surface Pro 3 with the I5 processor.  She absolutely loves it.  She uses it for her job which entails using photoshop and other rendering programs.  The battery life is outstanding on it and its very light weight.  Especially compared to my laptop.  My father in law went from a Macbook Air to the Surface Pro 4 and he questioned why he even bought the MacBook.  He charges it over night, takes it to work and has it open basically all day doing his job then comes back home with enough battery power to work another 3 hours before it says to charge it.  Basically he's getting around 16 hours a day out of his.

Hey guys! Thank you for all the replies! Unfortunatly the Surface pro 4 is a bit out of my budget. 

I'm at a max budget of 1.150 euros. 

I dont really have a  target weight or battery duration but I wanted ot as thin and light as possible and with a good battery... what about an Asus Zenbook? (I believe its a zenbook...)

If I am not mistaken you are from Portugal.

There is this option, which is amazing. You build your own laptop according to the budget and they build it for you.

Lenovo 920 and 720 are both worth looking into.

 

The 920 series is very rugged and well built for the price. The Lenovo keyboard legend for their thin and lights is horrible though.

 

If you are going to go with a macbook air only buy 2018+ and expect the keyboard to fail in the first year or two.

 

As far as the surface goes, personally I will not buy anything that cannot be disassembled or repaired to some extent.
