8600k vs 9600k

I want one of these two CPUs in my build, and they're both close to the same price, and the only difference I can remember is that the 8600k's base and turbo clock is 1gz lower than the 9600k, and the 9600k is soldered.

I saw GN's video on how the solder on the i9 didn't really make much of a difference, so I thought why would Intel change how well the IHS is soldered on the 9600k.

Essentially, which one is better? Or are the equal in performance.

Really depends on what the price difference is and if you think it's worth the marginal improvement.

I would recommend saving up for a used 8700K instead if you can't afford a 9900K.

depends if your talking i7 9600k it is 8 cores 8 threads, no hyper threading, 8600k is gonna be 6 cores 6 threads.

i9 isn;t a good example here. It does have 8 cores 16 threads compared to 8700k's 6 core 12 threads.

 

I think 9600k should be a good overclock option to those wanting to get the best single core performance for less money than the 9700k, but otherwise the 8600k is better value (you can liquid metal the older chip)

The 9600k/8600k is the i5.....

8600k only has 6 cores 6 threads

Js, there still is no i7 9600k, unless you meant to edit and it did not work. Also, the naming is not that hard to comprehend; the front number just increases by one

No I diditn edit that part jsut the core thread count hoenstly intel adding i9s now has confused me because I now have to keep track of in my head 4 tiers of CPus.

Just wait for 9th series to come out and buy 8th i5 8600k oc it to 4.8 and if you really wish even delid it ( mine non delid in gaming eft max 62°) and you are GOOD to go

9th gen is out... 8600k is only $20 less thats why I made a post asking which one to pick. I think i've decided on the 8600k anyway since the performance gap is small. I'll probably slap a 9700k in the build in the next two years
