If it's gotten into the controller, you might have to take it apart and clean the controller out.  Make sure it's completely dry before you put it back together!

This works great for other liquids too. Or so I've heard. ?

Can i also put it in like, rice?

Rice will make it dry out faster, which is good because you can use it sooner, but bad because it drying to fast can cause corrosion and such if it actually got inside the controller and onto it's logic board.

Most hardware stores should have sets of jeweler's screwdrivers for around $5.  It's a pretty good investment. :)

Just letting it dry out might do the trick, but one other concern is the smell of the milk after it's been there for a while.  It's not a very pleasant odor...

If you take out the battery and dont use it for those days, no reason it should.

Clean it like mentioned above, no vacuum (static) then put it in a bag of rice and seal it.  Give it 8 hours and it will either work or it wont.

Do people still spread around that 'put electronics in rice' meme?

Yes, it absorbs some liquid.. But it still leaves some nastiness behind, plus it doesn't remove the most annoying thing; the sugar in the drink.

But the reason I suggested taking the battery out is because otherwise there may be current running through the devices and you could cause shorts if the liquid spilled on the device is conductive.

I guess doing nothing and waiting until you have the appropriate tools is really your only option at the moment.

Depending on what needs cleaning, you might have to do a full disassembly. Here is a guide on how to do that, with the appropriate screwdriver bits/sizes too;

For those that still suggest uncooked rice

Quote

We wanted to see if rice is really all it’s cracked up to be. We tested six common household materials to see which could absorb the most water from a wet sponge in 24 hours:

  • Cat litter
  • Couscous (pearl)
  • Classic rolled oatmeal
  • Instant oatmeal
  • Instant rice
  • Silica gel (crystal kitty litter)
  • Uncooked rice

Rice is most definitely not king

Dry, uncooked conventional rice was the worst of the seven options we tested. It absorbed the least water in 24 hours, losing out to silica gel, cat litter, couscous, instant oatmeal, classic oatmeal and instant rice.

We recommend focusing on shaking, blowing, or vacuuming as much water out of the phone as you can before trying to dry out your device.

First picture. be sure to wipe down that component board with a little bit of alcohol on a cotton bud, take the time to clean the membranes too (the things you see on picture 2 for the buttons and dpad).

Just overall clean the plastics too.

The only thing that looks kinda bad are on the first picture. Right below the (looking at it this way) stick we see on the right, is some.. Looks like liquid damage, but can't be too sure. Just like a small spot on the bottom left of the board.

So long as it didnt short out when you spilled liquid on it, i.e u spilled it when it was not in use, then after a good clean it should work fine.

People have put their motherboards into the dishwasher to clean them ..and after letting them dry, they work fine.....most of the time.

So yea, take it apart , use a bunch of rubbing alchohol, let it dry for a bit. Then give it a shot.
