is it bad to leave your computer running all night and day

Great idea, I hope that fixes the booting issue you were having.

Try to find some thermal paste either online or at a local store; then you'll be good to go for a while.

That's a smart move, but keep in mind if your power supply fails it could take those drives down with it.

Nevertheless it is better then no backups for sure :)

Fixed the booting issue

but what do you mean by it will take those drives with it

Eyy that's one less issue to worry about!

What I mean is; let's say your power supply dies/blows the blue smoke.

If those drives are internal and not external it could overvolt them and render them unusable unless you get the professionally repaired & let the data be recovered.

FTR: Internal = Connected over SATA/M.2/IDE/..

         External = Connected over USB/E-SATA/...

Chances of that happening are slim, but it's just advice for anyone who likes to keep their files safe.

When the PC is acting up haunted,

who ya gonna call?

If you know what you are doing then that is no problem, just know you are working with potentially dangerous components.

I think I've said all I can, good luck with the PC ;)

My computers are always on. They download stuff when I am asleep and are connected to a lot of services I use on other units. Not to mention shares. Only computer that ever died on me was a gaming computer that was higly overclocked and was running 24/7 for about 10 years before it broke.
