What should I upgrade ?

Hey,

this is my PC right now and i would like to upgrade.

 

    CPU : AMD FX-8320E

    GPU : 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960

    MB : ASUSTeK Computer INC. M5A78L-M LX3

    RAM : 8,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3

 

I have 500$+ in my pocket and was thinking about Ryzen 7 2700x (ofc with new MB and RAM) and buy GPU later...

Do you think is this a good decision ? or the bottleneck will be so bad with this GPU ?

Please share your opinion with me and what you should do.

BTW I would like to play games on this PC and stream sometimes.

Realistically a full rebuild is needed.

2700x is a lot of CPU for the 960, but it's not a bad combo for 1080p. If anything, just rest assured you can upgrade like crazy in the future, in case you want something like a 1080 ti. What PSU you got? If it's old you'll want to replace it.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

well i dont have money for full rebuild and i just want to know if buying a new CPU will help me in any way with that old GPU

Pairing a 2700X with a 960 is a bad idea, save up to do a full rebuild.

Then maybe take the extra and put it towards an SSD for boot if you don't have one, or start saving up for a newer GPU, because eventually you'll want one.

Having a GPU bottleneck for only a year is fine. Plus, you might see a flash sale on a good card like a 1060 6gb and grab one sooner

Yeah because I can see what is going to happen, the OP is going to notice quite a big bottleneck pairing it with the 2700X so will want a better GPU probably a few days after.

That CPU must definitely go.

Even originally only thing it was actually good at was converting electricity to heat.

 

But if you're building on tight budget very few games benefit from eight cores, so 2600/X would do quite fine and should leave some starting money to GPU upgrade budget.

Also AMD is going to support AM4 socket ot 2020, so there will be good upgrade options if 2600/X starts feeling limiting.

Well when i will buy something like 1070ti right now (what i dont think is a good idea when a new GPUs are on the way) i will have bottleneck anyway on my CPU...

How would he? Will his system performance decrease after getting a new CPU? What does this even mean?
